TKLambert
Since I have to head back off to school here soon and it is still to early to plant to fall plots with the daytime temps still in the mid to upper 90's, I wanted to prepare them as much as I could ahead of time. I am going to go ahead and till the lime in the soil, but I was wondering if I do the fertilizer with the lime or wait until I seed later in September? Using 10-20-20 @ $30 a bag I don't want to put it out to soon and it leach out. Second question, I went to Southern States to get some rape seed to add into the plots this fall when I plant and the manager was unable to find the seed and gave me some gardens greens mix. Its a mixture of: Southern Giant Curled Mustard, Purple Top White Globe, Seven Top Turnip, and Curled Siberian Kale. Any thoughts on this of if I should put out or wait for the rape seed????? Thanks!!!!
dogdoc
don't fertilize until you plant. The nitrogen will be wasted. The green mix will do just fine! todd

wtnhunt
Always fertilize at planting here too. Good luck with the greens mix.
Tominator
Ditto with these guys. Nitrogen is lost to the atmoshphere pretty quickly over time.
