A couple Alaska pictures

My wife and I recently had a fabulous visit with a certain forum member here. This was her trip. So I didn't hunt. Black Bear season was open but I wanted to experience Alaska as much as possible with my bride. We also wanted to be as little an imposition on our hosts as possible. I hope we weren't difficult guests.

She's pretty enamored with Alaska right now. I doubt I could return without her.

Here's a couple of picts from the trip. And believe me we got TONS!

A minor moosy looking area. Moose like this bottom scrub. There are places that are even better. And yes, we did see some.

This is the kind of thing you see up there so frequently you don't even think to snap a picture of it. I'm so glad I did.

I miss it already. A part of me feels like it is still there.

Great pics Leo, post some more!

Just for you Randy!

Here is a Horned Puffin. That dark line above his eye is actually a fleshy horn. Birds with horns. Who'd have thought! I took this picture at the sealife center in Seward. Though I saw plenty of Puffins while fishing. Photographing one from a small open center console in the rain and rough seas just wasn't happening. It was hard enough at the sealife center to get this picture. Puffins are more nervous than a hummingbird on crack! Toughest to photograph bird I've ever encountered. Maybe they are calm sometimes. I never saw it.

Thank my wife for this next one and Kathleen for suggesting she try and get it. Those two work together well! Kathleen was a great host. I can only hope we were as good as guests. I did lug some fresh brown shrimp from here and a pile of smoked sausage up there. Kathleen and her family were very polite as they choked down some of my cooking.

Here are the two most absolutely classic ways to see Alaska in one picture!

My biggest Silver for the trip 11+ pounds. That's Kathleen's smiling son Montana beside me. He caught his first salmon minutes before. Look at that smile. Good kid!!
