Leo
Today I go out front to run a couple errands and some yard workers say, "Hey! There's a gator loose in your neighborhood!" Well I look across the street and there he is. He parks it on my neighbors front porch and decides he ain't moving. The single mother who lives there was thankfully at work and her 2 and 5yr old kids were in Daycare. It took a couple hours but to DNRs credit they did issue a nuisance alligator permit. There are over 20 kids under the age of eight in my neighborhood and this was not a good situation. I wish they could have given the permit to me but they have to use the problem critter service. I got to watch them snare him. I would have to pay a couple grand to kill a gator in another state. I can't see doing that when I literally have them in my own backyard. But by law, I can't touch them. I play by the rules. So we had to wait. Eventually these laws will have to change. There are just too many of them here for it not to. Tominator
That's freaky. Thanks for the pics Leo. Used to see them all the time in Florida. I sure remember the day when they were endangered, but the locals really hate them down there on the St. Johns.
hammerforged
Thanks for the memories Leo. I was stationed in Beaufort at MCAS when I was in the Corps back in the 70s. Ran across a few while walking night guard duty, definitely did not get too close, let them have their right of way and some of the biggest Raccoons I have ever seen. Great pics! Leo
that one was just a puppy, leo. let's see some 15 footers.... lol This one stays about 100yds from where my stand was. He's about 10ft. The one on my neighbors front porch was 6 1/2ft. I know where there is one about 12ft. But I don't have any pictures of that one. Honestly that's the very biggest I've ever seen in this area.
