Guest deerchica
After years of tagging along bowhunting with the boys, they finally have convinced me I have to bowhunt with the luck I have getting so close to them. I need to get crackin and get a bow so I can practice. I see bows advertised on tv all the time, but I dont know what is right for a woman, a petite woman at that. DH thinks he know everything about bows, but I thought Id better ask someone that might actually know what their talking about;) so can anyone give me some advice about a good beginner bow for women? LifeNRA
I will be getting my daughter the SideKick from Parker. This will allow her to grow up with. What I mean, is as she gets stronger, the bow can have the limbs replaced from 20-29 pounds to 30-40 pounds, and the last one 40-50 pounds. This will be like getting a new bow all over for a lot less money! $50 per change. But not in PINK! LOL! http://www.parkerbows.com/pb/2007/bowselect.html?action=choose&sex=Female&age=17-50&experience=beg
wtnhunt
A lot of choices in laides and youth bows out there that are able to be used for hunting. Think if at all possible would try to get in to a bow shop and shoot as many bows as you can. My wife shoots a browning micro adrenaline and my oldest daughter(12) is shooting a darton ranger III. Been pretty impressed with both bows.

dbHunterNY
just got my g/f shooting I just got my girlfriend into shooting a bow. We used my guidance and mainly her picking out one that ??"looks pretty"?? compared several others I had her look at. We got an '08 Diamond Edge with 40-50 lb draw weight limbs in a lighter camo (maybe Hardwoods HD but I forget). It has a very adjustable draw length system without having to order different modules or using a bow press. You can get many different limb/draw weight options. Also, the IBO speed was faster with lighter pulling limbs than my older bow at 70 lbs. More importantly she seems to like it a lot and seems to be picking things up well. Hope that helps, Dan

Turkeygirl
I shoot a Hoyt Rintec XL...it's one sweet bow. Hoyt I don'tthink is making them anymore but I always see them for sale like on other forums. I've heard good things about Bowtech/Diamond, Parker, Matthews.. Go out, try some, and get what feels right to you

Flintlock1776
1. Check out a Pro Shop or more if you have enough in your area to see if they carry different brands 2. See which shops will let you take some practice shots 3. Pick the shop you like best and go with what fits your budget based upon their recommendation. If they say it is outside you budget I recommend you save and wait to get the right gear as it will last you for years. Good luck and post some photos of your your set up when you get it! arrow32
Mathews Ignition !! Ditto from here to. I just bought Shelby one there a couple weeks ago and am going to set it up here soon down at the shop. But there are a ton of options out there for you. As John said the Parker Sidekick is a great choice it has the grow up with parker but you won't be doing any growing:D But very good for a youth hunter or lady. Also they have the Buckshot I wouldn't go with that choice but its there good shooting little bow but IMO I would go with the Sidekick over it and the Sidekick is only 30 bucks more I think. Not to much put it that way. Also Hoyt has some good options out there but it will cost your wallet a little more. Than have the Kolbalt out sweet bow I wanted Shelby to get it but she wanted the Iginition:( Also they have the Trykon Sport its a sweet little bow for youth and the ladies out there. There are also a ton of different options out there so you really need to look around before you break down and buy. Shooting them is the key. How they feel to you is all that matters. Arkansas Boy
Fred Bear Whitetail Jr. My girlfriend wanted to start bowhunting and since we are broke, I went with the Fred Bear Whitetail Jr. It has a 24" draw and it's maxed out at 40# which is the lowest legal draw weight here in Arkansas. Bow, tru glo site, whisker biscuit, arrows, broadheads, and all I was still only out $200!
Guest deerchica
I GOT MY BOW! I am so excited to practice tomorrow with it. I ended up with a Diamond Edge. I actually tried a Hoyt Reflex and like the Edge better and it was literally half the price. Dear husband gave me the choice of which I wanted.I think if I was a more experienced hunter the Hoyt would have been perfect. I was originally going to just use my son's Browing50-60lb, but ended up with this 40-50 and its so much easier for me. I cant believe what 5lbs can do.
