Re: 7.62x39 mm +p ?

I use: 23.5 grains / IMR-4198 / 150 gr. (30-30 bullet) in my Ruger M-77 MKII Bolt action rifle. Velocity is 2,200 FPS and I've taken 6 Deer with it over the years in Kentucky. I haven't used it the last 5 seasons however been using my .270 instead or my .44 Magnum Ruger 77/44 bolt action. I don't think my loads would be useable in an SKS rifle might be a bit too hot. Don't know about Corbon +P loads. confused.gif

Re: 7.62x39 mm +p ?

The Corbon load pushes a 125 gr hp to 2400 fps. That is a standard reload that can be found in the manuals, so its not like it is a "hot" load. This load is equal to the 125 gr load in the .30-30.

Their other load is 2300 fps with a 150 gr bullet. That is 100 fps faster than the manuals. As long as your gun is in good shape (minimal headspace) and you don't give the gun a steady diet of these loads, they will be ok.

AJ,

I wonder if they use a .308" or .310" bullet in their 7.62 X 39 m/m loads? Also wonder what powder they use? I personally found that IMR-4198 is ideal in developing accurate loads for this little cartridge.
