Remember the bow I bought last year?

Last year I bought a used 2005 Pearson Diamondback, bare, for $75. It is my first compound and I hadn't shot a bow in YEARS (decades really). I had some fun with it but a lot of frustration trying to get it dialed in, etc.

Well, I finally took the plunge and took it down to the bow shop today and paid the money to have it gone over. The nice thing about it was the guy said there is very little that needed to be done. Wax on the string, few minor adjustments, had him crank up the poundage to 62 lbs, swapped out the anchored peep to in-string only peep, and installed some string dampeners. He said the draw is perfect for me - something I hadn't considered when I bought it. I was blessed on that one. I also "splurged" and picked up a half dozen Matthews Terminator Lite Hunter 6075's - blazer fletchings. He measured me out and cut them to length. I would have like to pick up a dozen but 6 will do just fine to start.

I took it out (not the arrows - need to cure) and its pretty on at 15 yards. I had a steady crosswind and at 25 yards it was shooting high and right. The 62 lbs is comfortable but not easy. I think I'll stick with that until I get more work on the bow. I was called away so I didn't get a chance to shoot more today. However, tomorrow the carbons will come out and I'll see what difference it makes.

Bottom line - I feel pretty good about the check up. I feel better that the bow fits me like it should. It was just short of a $100 when it was said and done but it will be worth the money in the end. Now I can't wait to see what I can accomplish this fall after a lot of practice!
