no matter what you will be getting a good bow. i have a mathews....and i love it....but in my opinion they are the two best manufacturers on the market.......i got mine from the local sporting good store, and it was good to go out of the box.......adjusted the pins once and havent had to do anything else :)

My hoyt dealer is here in town and he has been good to me so i will prolly stick with him. The mathews dealer is 45 min away and always seemed to have there nose up in the air if you know what i mean. But regardless, i will prolly shoot both of them and see which one i like the best. Might even shoot a bowtech or should i dare say a PSE( a.k.a Piece of S*** equipment). Who knows. I might like it also. I will just have to shoot them all. Thanks for your input.

Of course, we all know Mathews is better...... :p

LOL.....pick the one the feels best to you....either is a great bow ;)

Recommend you try a Switchback XT....you may save a bit from the new models and it's a sweet shooter :)

I will say this, my buddy bought a new Hoyt about 2 years ago. I shot it and was incredibly impressed with it...That is until I "took the Switchback challenge"...lol

I shot a matthews in a pro shop in Illinois and couldnt believe the stability after release.

If I could give you any advice it would be to go to a shop and shoot them both. just shoot from ten yards and see which one feels better.

I have a Trykon and absolutey love it! Most of my buddies shoot Hoyt. I shot Mathews, bowtech, PSE, even a few lower end bows but the Hoyt felt better then all the rest in my hand. Get the bow that feels best and shoots best for you. Go to your proshop a few times a week for a few weeks and shoot every bow you can get your hands on. Then go back and do it again. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and let us know what you come home with.

I've shot Mathews since 1999 and they are awesome bows. I currently shoot a switchback XT and got to shoot a DXT Saturday. Let me tell ya, it is SWEET! Hoyt makes an awesome bow as well, I just don't like split limbs and the overall feel of their bows. That's just my personal feelings and my opinion. Someone earlier said not to limit yourself to those two brands and that was good advice. If you're about to lay down some money for a new bow, you owe it to yourself to shoot as many as you can get your hands on. Shoot Mathews and Hoyt but also try Reflex, Bowtech, Browning, and PSE. Have fun with it and get what feels best to you.

I shoot Mathews, and have for the past 5 years. I'm a shop shooter for my local Mathews dealer. I love the draw cycle of my Mathews, silky smooth, just what I want in a hunting bow. That being said, my shop had a Katera in my draw length last week, and I was shooting it. What a sweet bow! I would love one for 3D. The draw cycle is a little stouter then my Dren LD's, but smooth all the way through. The Katera definitely lets you know if you creep at full draw. but...I really liked it. If I didn't shoot Mathews for the shop, I might very well own a Katera.

I love my Hoyt. I wouldn't limit yourself, but you can't go wrong with either! I'm impressed with the lack of jabs and joking hostility regarding this question though! Usually there's a little more of a rivalry going on, but every smart archer knows that there's great things about both companies.

Good luck,

Ryan

there is no conflict, Mathews all the way. Seriously though, I love my Mathews & think they are great bows but there are lots of very good bows out there besides these two. What town/ Mathews dealer did you deal with skooba. I can give you the name of a good shop & Mathews dealer in the area if interested.

One alternative I might have for you is to try a reflex and a mission bow. Reflex is made by Hoyt or a subsidiary and Mission archery is owned by Matthew's. Both are good bows and are getting rave reviews from many folks right here. Try that and you may save yourself a good chunk of change and have plenty left over for new accessories. Just some food for thought.
