bbass300
I'm going to put in about a 2 acre fall plot about the first of Sept and not exactly sure what to plant. im located in middle TN. Any suggestions would be great. thanks!
dogdoc
unless you've already done a lot of prep such as weed control and soil samples I'd stick with a fall variety of annuals: 25# wheat 25# rye 25# oats 10# Austrian winter peas 3# of brassica mix all /acre. this is an awesome mix that will start attracting quickly and last all winter and into early spring. Jorden
That is a good mix...turnips would be a good bet too but september might be a bit to late for those
wtnhunt
Think with knowing how well dogdoc knows his stuff on plots that I would take his suggestion. Turnips can be planted September here in Tennessee without any issues.
outdoorsmen1
Yeah because im plantin hamann farms for my fall/winter plots, and im planting it the first of september, because the first frost is normally around the 15th of october, and thats about 45 days, perfect time. starbux
I'd wait until about Oct. 1 and plant Wheat and Buck Forage Oats. If you wait, they will still be tender in the season.
