fly
With the cool temps in IL. this week I'm getting the deer hunting bug bad! I went to the farm I hunt on and got 3 tree's set up for my climber. I also went to Wal-Mart and purchased my buck/doe combination deer permit for $26.00. I was then reviewing the regulations for updates/changes and saw that non-resident deer permits are over $400.00 now! I believe this is the first time deer permits have ever been this high. Any other states close or more?
Guest 1TarheelHunter
You just had to remind me, didn't you! Hunting with gun and bow in your state is killing me. At least I don't have to pay an outfitter on top of the $760.00+ I've paid for tags.

Mach1
I thank God I'm a IL resident when it comes time to buy my hunting license and permits. Five tags (2 bow, 2 firearm, 1 muzzleloader) for a total cost of $71. Then my license and habitat stamp for $13. $84 total for me to try to take 5 deer. NY_Bowhunter14
it is $250 for a non-resident "Super Sportsman License" it includes 1 either sex bow tag, 1 Buck Tag for gun season, 1 doe tag for gun season, a turkey tag for fall and spring, a bear tag, and fishing license... i believe, don't quote me on it... to me thats a pretty darn good price, considering its $68 for residents... Randyman
I am always amused by the non-residents who whine about how much it costs for them to hunt in Illinois, yet they still line up when it is permit time. The way our Governor is pillaging the budget of the IDNR, you non-residents can expect to keep paying more and more as the IDNR looks for ways to plug the gaps. You can always stay home and hunt the monster bucks you have there!
crazylegz70
Staying out of this one.......

I know I'd sure love to hunt elk, moose, and other high dollar big game in other states but currently can't afford the license/permits even if I got drawn. So I stay home and hunt elk and moose on the computer. The super-sportsman in New York sounds like a great deal for non-residents.
Randyman
You're brutally accurate Randyman. Just for the record, that was my only intent. I'm not flaming non-residents, just being brutally honest. Nothing but my opinion.
Rhino
Got mine this morning...$413.08 for my tag, excluding the license and habitat stamp. Left over tags from the June draw went on sale this morning on a first come, first served basis. The worst part was continually dialing this morning trying to get through. I started at 8:10, hit redial forever, and finally got through and bought my tag at 9:50. If you include everything the cost comes out to about the same amount that I paid for my Kansas tag and license. I'm not complaining though. NR hunters take it in the hip here too. wtnhunt
That is pretty steep, annual all game non resident for Tennessee is $251, if you hunt a liberal unit that means you get up to 3 does a day and are allowed a total of 3 bucks on the statewide harvest, not to mention that includes turkey and all the small game seasons too. Safe to say I wont be hunting Illinois.
crazylegz70
This is the way I look at it, If people want to come from out of state. They dont pay the taxes that we do, and people in illinois know how expensive everything is from city tax, state tax, property tax, car registration. I am fine with them coming from out of state I dont think the prices are steep considering the consequences.....I am paying around $300 to hunt antelope this fall and I think that is reasonable, but then again, I will probably only get to do it once in my lifetime. I love the area I hunt in Illinois and hope to one day have a residence there. As long as I have the land to hunt on, you'll just have to continue seeing this N.C. boy in your state during deer season.

Guest 1TarheelHunter
We've hunted Pope County for the last 5 years. I have been fortunate enough to become friends with some super people in the area. Great people and beautiful country, what more could you ask for. Also, it's about as far as you can get from Chicago and still be in the state:D :D !

Guest jimmy28303
just so you know, if anyone is military out there, the Illinois DNR website says that active duty military is considered a resident with the exception of buying a lifetime license. That only applies to Illinois residents in the Military!
