Guest du9207
which recticle do you guys use or think is best when hunting varmints/predators at long range say 500 yrd? ill be using 22-250 Dot? duplex? mil-dot? BDC? Illuminated? Also, midway has a simmons whitetail edition 20x power scope for only $109. i know "you get what you paid for" but the scope as over 120 good reviews with very very little bad reviews. i do believe you get what you paid for but with so many good reviews going for it, it sounds like a deal what do you people think? http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=746570&utm_source=fsimmons&utm_medium=homepage81108
hangunnr
Small targets = small reticle. I prefer a fine cross hair or fine duplex in a scope. Haven't had any positive experience with Simmons scopes. hangunnr

hangunnr
I pretty much shoot Leupold on my long guns these days. Years back I had two Simmons 44 Mag in a row that rotated the reticle after several rounds of 12ga slug. I wasn't game for another. hangunnr
toddyboman
I like mil-dots Currently have a Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 on my 223, it has been to South Dakota and I have shot prairie dogs at 50 yards to 600+ yards with it. I also have one on my 22-250 but I purchased that gun after my South Dakota trip. Here it is at Midway. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=836514
wtnhunt
Have a burris ballistic plex reticle on my .223, works for me. A duplex would be fine too. Far as the simmons scopes, had a 44 mag on my .270 for several years, and killed a lot of deer with it, however the scope started giving me some issues with the reticles about 5 years ago.
