Today was a like a bow hunters Xmas! After work I picked my daughter up from childcare. We went to Cabela's! We got her Parker Sidekick XP. Man, I don't know who is happier, her or me!

I got my Leupold RX-II range finder, which just happen to take us over that $500 mark for a FREE $150 GIFT CARD! ;) I also got a a free knife deal from Leupold, wasn't expecting that! But hey I wasn't complaining! :p

We went back in and burned it all up! LOL! :D New bow case, release, arm guard, arrows, and a pack of re-placement blades for me!

Time to get her shooting!!!;)

Let me know how you like that rangefinder ... ;)

I tried it out today, works GREAT! I was standing up on this hill. Set the block target out at the bottom. My guess is that this hill is about 20-22 feet high. I ranged the block at LOS (Line Of Sight) was at 25 yards, actual pin to use said 18 yards. I set the 15 yard pin on the dot, BULLSEYE! I was very impressed with it! Not sure who said the TBR or the ARC doesn't work. But after today, I say it does, perfectly! I got the Leupold RX-II because it has a longer eye relief than the Bushnell, since I wear glasses. Now watch, these companies will finally come out with a finder that has a longer eye relief!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

My daughter also did well shooting her bow for the first time out. But she was having a hard time standing straight. Turns out the draw length was too long. I even added a loop for her release today, which I know didn't help. They set her draw length to 22". Which I thought was kind of long. I remember William's video of his daughter, and my daughter Kaitlyn, was doing the same thing. But after I adjusted the draw length, it allowed her to stand straight and stick them into the target. So William helped us today, and he didn't know it! ;) Not sure if his daughter's problem was the same as mine, but after the draw length was shortened to 19" her form got better. She was shooting and didn't want to stop! LOL! ;)

That's a nice looking bow, it's great that you're getting your daughter into the greatest sport alive. Larry Weishuhn told me once, "There are two sports, hunting and fishing, any game with a ball is just that, a game." It's true, though. Let us know how she likes the Parker. I've been entertaining the idea of trying out one, but I'm partial to Bear, BowTech and Mathews.

How old are your daughters?? We are trying to decided what our 8 yr old's next bow will be - we want something she can "grow" with so we won't have to buy new ones all the time. We have 2 smaller kids who can take over her old one eventually. Here in MI she can hunt at 10 yrs, but I'm bummed since her bday is in late November  meaning she'll only get in the late doe season (and will probably complain about the cold at that point haha).

Let me know of any suggestions.

Parker has a replacement limb program with thier youth bows. You send in the old bow and $50 along with what weight draw you would like and they will install new limbs and send it back to you. Check it out: http://parkerbows.com/pb/2007/growup.html

My daughter is nine years old. Like what was mentioned about this post above. Parker has a program called "Grow With Parker". This Sidekick is sooooo quiet its not funny! Its much quieter than mine! There are bows out there that will adjust poundage like the Darton youth bow, 15-45 pounds. We never found that one anywhere close to me. Wasn't going to drive a hundred miles either. Diamond Edge is also another line she tried out, along with the few other kids bows. In the end she picked the Sidekick, not me! :p I wasn't complaining, she knew daddy has a Parker. But I kept telling her that she need to feel which one felt good in her hand while she shot it. She is very happy with her bow! But the biggest plus is that now she can shoot with her dad!

I purchased my three kids a Mathews Genesis, it has a max pull weight at 20 pounds. They say it is up to 35 pounds equivalent due to the cam. I have it set around 12 pounds so all three can shoot, it's not deer killin time yet since they are not old enough so i went in this direction. PS i even like shooting it, very accurate and well made.
