Guest Swampman
I picked up a Remington 700 ADL .30-06 in Mossy Oak Break-up (with factory mounted scope) at the Prattville, AL Walmart for $477.00. It has the new X-Mark Pro trigger (truely outstanding)and a 24" barrel. I don't think I've ever seen a Remington .30-06 with a 24" barrel. I upgraded the factory mounted scope with a Nikon Prostaff 3-9X40. I sold the Mossy Oak stock for more than it was worth, and replaced it with a Realtree Hardwoods HD stock from Cabela's. The rings are vintage US made Weaver Tip-offs and the sling is a Outdoor Connections Super Sling that were in my parts box. I love the Remington 700 & the .30-06. Dakota
That is the sweetest looking gun! When my scope mounts came loose on my .270 during my elk hunt in Wyoming, I borrowed a Remington 700 ADL .30-06. At 280 yards, that 6x6 wasn't going anywhere! I now have a Winchester 70 .30-06 topped w/ a Tasco 3-9x40 scope. Love the .30-06! Dakota
Guest Swampman
GREAT looking rifle. How does it shoot? Got any pics of groups? I hope to shoot it this Friday. I picked up 2 boxes of Remington 165 grain Core-Lokts at Walmart. After the rebate, they only ran a little over $10.00 a box. I have to drive an hour to a legal shooting range. I should have bought the rifle when I first saw it, but hesitated which was a mistake because when I decided I was going to buy it and got back to the store it was already gone. That rifle had a 24 inch barrel and the black synthetic stock with no sights. Like Nikon scopes too, my model 700 is topped with a nikon monarch. Guest Swampman
I finally made it to the range today. I put 20 rounds of Remington 165 grain Core-Lokt hunting ammo down range. We had some wind, because we have Tropical Storm Faye coming into town. I'd say this rifle will probably shoot 1/2 MOA after it's had a few more rounds down the tube. One inch groups were the norm but holes were frequently touching. 20 rounds of .30-06 is really more than I'm comfortable shooting of the bench with a light sporting rifle and I was getting tired at the end. The gun is very light feeling. I was waiting about 60 seconds between shots and the barrel was getting warm. Recoil is not bad at all. I'm very happy.
