fly
I'm considering shelling out 134 bucks for the HS pro-safety harness for tree stand hunting. This harness has the mesh in the front. I'm currently using the safty starps that came with my summit tree stand. They are not easy to keep organized and on occasion the leg starps come undone when I'm walking into my stand. I was wondering if the HS pro is worth the money. HS also sells the treestalker harness for half the price. What is about the HS pro that makes it better or at least more expensive? Does it have something to do with the mesh? Thanks Frank
LifeNRA
When I got my Summit Goliath, I took one look at that safety harness and said no way! I knew that would be a nightmare to put on on the dark. With the HSS, four clicks, DONE! Now I don't have the PRO model, just the plain bow hunters model, it was around $100. The only thing the mesh will do for you is keep you cooler during the warmer months. Which is why I didn't get the mesh version, I plan on using this during the rifle season which is much cooler. I still have my safety harness from Summit, but will only use it as a back up.
noobi
I have HS Treestalker and I'm pleased w/ it. I wear it under my outer garment so none of it is visible. So I figured why spend the extra money on the Pro style if it's going to be worn the same way and it functions the same.

hoosierhunter
Just literally just got my HSS pro version in the mail this week. I ordered the lg/xl for 175-250 lbs. I'm 220 and my only concern is that I will have to wear that vest UNDER my garments b/c it fits perfect right now.... The way I look at it is if I ever fall, I want the best thing on the market to keep me as safe as possible. What will cost more 140 dollar safety vest, or a wheel chair b/c a cheapier version didn't do the correct job.............IMO
HOYTnMUZZYboy
I agree H.H you cant put value on your life. I bought the hunter safety system last year b4 the season started. I would never be caught dead wearing one b4 i put it on. Never liked them, I always used the ones that came with your stands. Cheapo's that they had to give you when you got your stand. After being on calls where guys had fallen out of there stands and halfing to cart them a mile out of the woods. No thanks! So I bought the H.S.S. Reguardless who makes it, they all do the same job. Try a few on see what feels best. Some fit a lil different then others. Kinda like gettin a bow. Your gonna have it for a while so might as well what feels right for you. Just my 2 cents for what there worth.
RangerClay
I have HS Treestalker and I'm pleased w/ it. I wear it under my outer garment so none of it is visible. So I figured why spend the extra money on the Pro style if it's going to be worn the same way and it functions the same. I also have the Tree Stalker. I have used it for two years and I really like it. It has all of the same great features as the expensive HSS models but it has less pockets. I really don't use the pockets and I wear it under my coat.
Chrud
The HSS is definately worth the money. I have one of the new Pro Series vests, which is AP HD camo and half cloth / half mesh on the back. I had been using the Summit SOP harness and it is a huge difference. The Pro Series is nice, but there are a couple other models that are a little cheaper that would probably work great too.
BR44
I have the Treestalker harness also, the Pro series nice, but if you don't need the extra pockets (I use a fanny or small backpack), go with the Treestalker ($wise).
wtnhunt
Have used the summit harness for a couple years now and it can be aggravating, but is really not that bad if you are not rushing and it is not crammed in a tote or balled up. I did buy one of those vests last year from gorilla that you thread your old harness through. Wal mart had them clearanced for $7 if I remember right, still kicking myself for not picking up a couple of them, much easier to use the summit harness with that vest setup. Would be nice to have the hss system or one of the nice vest systems, but knowing that all harnesses with the tma approval are all designed to meet or exceed the same guidelines, I really cannot see paying $140 for one. fly
Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll make a trip to Cabela's and try a few on. I'm leaning towards the treestalker.

Mirage
I would recommend this vest as well. I had a accident last year where the stand broke in half as I was desending throughing me to the ground landing on my feet backwards, because it was a ladder stand i was not wearing my saftey vestas I desended from the stand I broke my back at the L1 vertbrea. I was out of work for months and still not the same. I can walk and all but it still reminds me everyday.
