wildthing
fellas / gals I currently have my Remington 7 mm at a gunsmith being completely redone. I am looking to put a nice new scope on it for this coming deer season. What scope (brand / model) would you kind folks recommend for that caliber of gun? bluelund79
Depends on your price range and what distances you are shooting at. I have really like my Nikon Buckmasters. I have 3 of them-2 3x9x40's (300 Win Mag, and 30.06) and 1 4.5x14x40 on my 25.06. There are better scopes that cost alot more, but for a soldier with a family, these have been the nicest for me so far. I had lower end scopes before, will never do that again. Good luck in your search and post some pics of the finished product!
wtnhunt
For deer hunting here, I like a 3-9X40. Nikon monarch scopes are great scopes for the money, that is what I use on my deer rifle. Really depends on what type of hunting you are going to use the rifle for and on how much you want to spend though.
clrj3514
for basic hunting i think nikon monarch 3-9x40 is the best for the $ also
unioncountyslayer
You can't go wrong with a Leupold. Not the most expensive, but not the cheapest. If you're looking to save a little more money, I have a few Nikon ProStaff scopes on my rifles/muzzleloader that I have been very pleased with. johnf
This is my patent scope answer. By the best Nikon you can afford.
RangerClay
I like my Bushnells. I have heard nothing good about Nikon customer service.
maytom
Another plug for the Leupold line of fine scopes. A 3x9 is almost the standard, but there are many choices depending on what distances you will be mostly hunting from. If in dense woods settings, a 1x4 or a 2x7 may fit your bill more. Or, if out west where greater distant shots are the norm, you may want a higher power range of power, say a 3x10, 4x12 or a 4x16.
JJL
Zeiss Conquest and don't look back.
fly
Depends on your price range and what distances you are shooting at. I have really like my Nikon Buckmasters. quote] I only have one and it worked great bear hunting in terrible conditions this past spring. It did not fog up on me in conditions I was afraid it would have. I have it on my 300 Rem ultra mag. My hunting buddy had a Nikon Monarch the worked equally as well (cost a bit more too). Shaun_300
Yeah it all depends what kind of money you want to spend. I have a Bushnell Banner 4-12x40 on my .300 WSM, had one issue due to a bad set of scope rings, but the scope has been great! Sure it's no $500 scope, but it does the job, never fogs up on me either in the rain and snow! I may upgrade to a Bushnell Elite 3200 one of these days. headhunter54
scopes I have Zeiss Conquest's on 243 to 30-378 and really like them. Very clear and let in a lot of light. Just buy the best you can up front and you won't spend time and money later.
camocop
i started shooting with the Pentax Lightseeker series with no regrets. imo they are brighter and clearer than any Leupold or Nikon i have ever looked through.
dbHunterNY
My dad has a 300 Winchester Magnum and he's got a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9X40. He bought it because I had one on my 30-06 and he liked it. If you hunt out west and use shooting sticks though I'd pick something with a little more zooming power. - Dan
stevebeilgard
Zeiss Conquest and don't look back. he said he was in the military, jim. not a custom home builder:D:D. i prefer leupold and have them on all my guns. but,the nikon is a great scope for the money. snapper
The Zeiss Conquest isn't outta the world higher than a Luepold VXII. Reall don't think you could go wrong with either one...on the cheaper side, Nikon is a good bang for the buck!
hyperflow
I have allways hunted with leupold everything, range finder, scope, binoc. After you hunt with leupold i dont even bother looking at other brands.

stcif
I have two Leupolds. Love them both. My last gun purchase was a Knight Revolution .50 cal muzzleloader. Money was an issue when it came to the scope. I had $200.00 in Gander Mountain gift cards. I could buy the Nikon and scope rings for $200.00 or the Leupold for $200.00 without the scope rings. It killed me to buy a Japanese scope, but I did it. I am happy with the quality of the Nikon, just disappointed in not buying American. If you can afford Leupold, that is my recommendation. Great warranty to. Good luck with your choice.
Guest OldBuckhunter
thanks for all the insight. I was looking at some Leupold's the other day. I have a Leupold 3x9x40 on my Rem. 7 mag and love it. Vision is very clear.
