Gator's & dogdoc's hog hunt.....

Gator and I decided on a quick afternoon hog hunt. We met at the land at 3---got the guns loaded and headed for the hunt. First thing I wanted to do was check the trap before we headed to the stand. I notice that the door is tripped so we casually start walking to the trap and find 3 big hogs in the trap. All of sudden Gator gets in his Army shooting stance as we see 2 hogs around 40 yards from the trap. Before I know it Gators in a killing mode and bullets are flying and hogs are running everywhere. One of the hogs runs to my right so I start running to get a shot--and ole Gators emptying his clip. I don't know whether to shoot or duck for cover. As I get to the road a big sow runs across the road giving me a quick shot--but I miss. All total we got 3 hogs in the trap and quick shooting Gator has 2 on the ground. He shot the first hog between the eyes--and of course that hog dropped in her tracks. He shot the other hog running--his first shot took off his lower jaw and his second shot found the mark right behind his shoulder. We follow a blood trail for about 75 yards in some thick brush and find him. So now the fun part--we take a few pics and head back to the truck to get the knives and start cleaning. This is where it gets funny---my big time army friend, Gator, pulls out his 8 year old cub scout 1 inch pocket knife to clean these huge hogs. I kindly remind him we are cleaning hogs--not bunny rabbits. After about 2 hours of cleaning we get enough meat to feed a small army.

Gator---great shooting and congrats on your first hog!

Here are some pics of our success!

SWEET!!! Great story!! HAHA I use a "cub scout" knife too.....works good for deer....what's the difference???? It cracks me up when guys gut their deer with a freaking machete or something LOL. No need in a knife 16" long!

Doc......I am coming over to kill kill kill!!! Looks like a blast! You need to do some european mounts on the skulls! How much did they weigh??

I'm glad to see that I ain't the only person uses a little knife on deer! But I will say this, my pocketknife would have been no match for them hogs! The difference here is them hogs been eating corn, turnips, clover, all kinds of good stuff!!!! They had a layer of fat about 3" thick!!!!

Re: Gator\'s & dogdoc\'s hog hunt.....

VTDW---I have used a wild game processor in Pink before but now I just do it myself. On the big boars all I take is the backstrap and usually the hams. On the smaller ones I clean off as much as I can. Gator shot a smaller one that went about 80# that he is going to smoke--that will be yummie!

Rhino----Gator was kind enough to brush off the dirt but the little sissy boy didn't want to get any hog blood on him. I cut one of the big sows belly open to see if she was pregant and see what all they have been eating--when little Gator got a smell of those guts I thought he was going to pass out. I told him in my line of business that's the smell of $$$$$.

These were some of the fattest hogs that I have killed at my place but then again they have been eating pretty darn good.

ROFLMBO......So you say gator is a sissy with an itchy trigger finger eh. At least he's a gentleman. The big sow I killed 2 weeks ago was one of the fatest ones I ever cleaned too. They have been eating real good down here too.

About 3 weeks ago 4 of us were waiting at a fork in one of our woods roads at dark in case someone needed some help dragging. The neighbor's gate to his 465 acres that borders us is right there too. The neighbor comes out with his 20 year old son on the back of his wheeler and they are dragging a ~150# hog behind them with a rope. I couldn't help but LMBO with those 2 guys having the back end of that wheeler sagging down with that hog behind them. Maybe it's a new way for a redneck to scrape a hog that I didn't know about. smile.gifgrin.gif
