I want to raffle off a whitetail hunt on my land during our youth season in Wisconsin. What do I have to do to make this raffle happen. Do i need to get permission somewhere? All of the proceeds would be donated to a very good cause. Any help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated. ;)

Randy - you first need to check your local ordinances about raffles. I was on the board of directors for the Irlene Mandrell Celebrity Shoot for the last 4 years and we moved the shoot around, each time we set up in a new place we had to check and see if what we were doing was legal in that area. Contact me at [email protected] and I will be glad to send you a check list as to what you need to do if it is legal in your area.

If you are thinking of raffling it here in the forum, contact Scott. Seems to me there were rules placed on that sort of thing a few years ago.
I really wanted to take a kid out from "Catch a Dream" I just don't think I can make their standards. So, I thought I could just do a local cheap raffle and make 4, or 5 hundred bucks to send to them so someone else could take them out. I would just do a local raffle.

Is it going to be a four week Safari to Africa ??
LOL Nope, Sorry! :D I just think that I have a pretty good chance to let a kid shoot a pretty nice buck. If he/she doesn't get one atleast I'll have some time wth them to teach them and maybe try to let them figure out that's it's really not about the kill. ;)

Get ahold of Heather, everyones favorite conservation warden. I'm sure she can point you in the right direction.
She's definitely the best looking warden Wisconsin's ever seen, I just think I'd get rid of the "favorite" part...;):D

Hey, if the legal stuff is too much, you could always invite me and Chrud down :p:D
I really appreciate your offer Craig, I'll call and find out if you two qualify under the age restrictions! :D

Sounds like you are going to be doing an awesome thing in your area Randy, good luck.

A little off topic but it goes along with getting involved with kids and getting them hunting, I just signed up with the QDMA mentoring program, which is fairly new with them and they are trying to get people like you involved to help kids in your area to take kids hunting. It consists of getting signed up off the internet form, a background check and then after that is all done they help set you up with a child in the area. Might be something to look into, it looks like it will be a great thing!!

Might be another option than "catch a dream", their requirements don't seem to be as difficult to meet

How stringent are their standards? Can you have a raffle and then give them the proceeds?
Catch a dream wants it to be a "hunt of a lifetime" understandably, I just don't have the resources to make it that special. So, I thought i'd just send them some cash so someone else can make a childs dream come true.

I'm going to take the neighbor kid out this year, he has been a great friend to my 8 year old son. He takes him fishing and plays baseball or football with him. This will be his 3rd year of hunting and has not connected yet. I think we can change that! ;):D Thanks and we'll be sure to post pics when the time comes.
