Team Realtree
Over the past two years some of us guys have made an attempt to get together and hunt or at least just meet and greet. Some folks have had to really travel a long way. It has laways been my goal to find a central location in the U.S. where everybody would have a chance to do this. Now, I figured we cut a lot of the expense and do it after the hunting season. This would just be a 3-4 day weekend of cooking out and fellowship. The following is something I posted in the Mod room to see if there was any takers. We are talking about next year so there is plenty of time to plan: "It would be great to do it right in the middle of the country. Start talking it up. Make sure that it is far enough out so that no one has a God awful long trip and everyone had a chance to make it. I have no idea what a good central location would be? Are we talking Kansas? Nebraska? Or because of the forum population base, do we cheat to the right (East) and meet up in MO, IA or IL? Let's start talking and maybe plan something. I suggest it be after the hunting season next year so we don't screw up the reason why we all meet up here in the forums. If we get enough folks and make this a big deal I will try to hog tie Michael Waddell and bring him along. I think it would be fun. The best place to do these are in state parks where you have rooms or lodges. We can cook out, maybe do a little fishing and just hang out in a "outdoorsman like" surrounding. I will leave this one up to you guys. If you want to pursue this I will need to look into when all of our trade shows are next year and look at planning it after those (and before spring turkey season). If it grows into something big, I will create a separate forum for it." S Post what you think.
The_Kat
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition I am all for a trip after season. Missourii, kansas, Texas, Arkansas, You name it, I'll be there. Lake Texoma in Oklahoma has nice resort, and nice cabin as well to stay in for good money.
Steven
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition Just an idea to get the ball rolling- be advised that I am just suggesting this and would need to talk to my uncle first, BUT, my uncle owns a motel in Harper, Ks., 45 miles south west of Wichita. 22 rooms and sure we could work out something. There is an outdoor archery range 10 miles outside of Harper in the town of Anthony. Medisine Lodge is 40 miles west, beautiful gypsum hills. And plenty of room to roam. Toss that idea around and we'll see if anything comes of it. Note: My uncle looks for any oportunity to fire up the smoker and go BBQ crazy. Team Realtree
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition Man! That is a pretty good start! 22 rooms! Hey, if we fill those and folks bring campers, we start looking like a hunting "Woodstock." This is what we want to happen. Just some ideas thrown around. I really think this could be a great time. Enough folks, we might even organize an archery tournament! S

Steven
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the archery range is at Lake Anthony, so there's fishing, golf, picnic pavillions available also.
bulldawg
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition See what you folks can come up with. If I can afford it after all is set in stone, my son & I will probably be able to get there for it. Depending on if I have something else pending or not. VtBowhunter
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition Dave, if this goes through, then I'll be going and you're welcome to travel with me. We can get 3 or 4 guys and carpool, and that will save on expense if we all split gas costs......can also travel straight through by switching drivers. ricfirefighter
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition the black hills are great, before spring turkey and its fairly warm by then up here motel rooms should still be cheap at that time and plenty of places to camp and im already here even better

Tominator
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition it all depends on my health and time of year. if it was held during the school year i couldn't do it unless it's during spring break, usually the end of March. i'm sure i could talk Ohiobucks into driving my sorry butt down there, he did enough of that this past Fall, he's used to it now. Ohiobucks
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition You can count on it Chris. That is a great idea Scott, sounds like a lot of fun. I would be interested in something like that for sure.

ruttinbuc
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition I would love to get together and meet some of the fine people of the forums and it sounds like a good idea. However, my vacation is used for the purpose of hunting. When you only have so much you have to use it wisely. Maybe over a holiday weekend and a fly in, but that has its limits as well, depending on destination and the logistics of it all.
Steven
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition [ QUOTE ] hay buckee,,,, maybe we can travel together?? that would be awsome! Guest blackeyed_susan
Re: A Realtree.com Proposition I told Summer that everyone from Realtree getting together was a really good idea. But the hunting season here in northern NY doesn't get over till December and I think even in Ohio it's even later. Why not have it before season maybe over the summer? It will be warmer and maybe more people will come because they can camp. Not only will Realtree members come but maybe they can bring their families. The kids will be on vacation. Where are the majority of members from? East or west.
