Finally got around to setting up my new 14'x16' Wall Tent. I went out to my parents ranch, so I would have some room, and not much of an audience. It was interesting, glad I decided to do this ahead of time instead of waiting till I got to Colorado. Have a lot of pictures and will give a narrative of the event. :D:D:D

First pic. Laying out the frame

Next two are the top of the frame put together.

Now I have unfolded the tent for the first time and layed it across the top of the frame.

Next three I have added the legs to the frame, looking good, except for one minor detail I haven't figured out yet.:o:(:o

Now I have got the sides pulled down, door opened up and the fly on top. Really feeling good, got to this point in less than an hour. :D:D:D

OOPS, I can't open the windows, the zippers are on the outside???????????? Oh, I put in on INSIDE OUT, or upside down &%^&*)^)#$%# This is really disheartening. So I went and got me a chair and just sat down to cool off, did I mention it was about 95 degrees.

Well, I decided I really needed to do it right, so here we go, tearing it down. :o:(

Going back up, the right way.

Set back up, right, finally.

Tent with fly on, I didn't completely stake it down but it looks pretty good.

final 2 pics of the inside.

Guest Colorado Bob

Make sure you hose it down. It will shrink. I had to shorten up all the poles on mine by several inches. Looks alot like mine-----Mine is 12x14x5 side walls. My frame is 1" electricial conduit---good & strong. It's had 2' of Colorado snow on it before. Good luck elk hunting this year. CB

What kind of wood-stove did you get, Jeff ?

The Peak

Wood%20Burning%20Stove.JPG

These stoves are built tough. Whether you pack in with horses or drive to camp, these stoves are going to do the job right once you get there! The top and door are made from 10 gauge steel and the rest is cold rolled 12 gauge steel which makes for a superior stove. Guaranteed! Good For Tents 14' x 16' and UP.

Stove dimensions are: 28" Long X 18" Wide X 14-1/2" High

Included:

  • Warming tray
  • Water heater,
  • Coal grate,
  • Nesting Stove pipe,
  • Spark arrestor,
  • Damper

Nice looking tent. Wall tents are great for a base camp. Don't skimp on the cots for sleeping and we always put a tarp down to help keep things a little cleaner. One little note, I did not see a stove pipe hole in the rain fly, and that might cause an issue once you set up camp for real. Also, as Colorado Bob stated, give that thing a good soaking and once dry spray on some water proofing, concentrating on the seams. Excellent stove choice. Now, let's go hunting!

The fly is just a regular poly tarp, I marked it to cut out a hole for the stove pipe.

Yeah, I am ready to go my self, but have to wait till Nov., although I am going to Utah scouting next weekend. :D:D:D

Thast's awesome! We used to stay in a wall tent in Arkansas for duck hunting. I am looking at buying a Big Horn III tent and I saw in Cabelas they make a stove that runs on pellets. They say the stove should last around 6-7 hours on 20#. It also burns wood. Now you went and got me all excited and I'm broke...
