i do not own an 11-87 but i have never heard a bad thing about them. my dad shoots the 1100 20ga and there is nothing wrong with that gun at all. really nice shooting gun. i have also shot a friends 1100 28ga and that is also a nice gun. if i were to buy a new semi shotgun, i would get the 11-87 or the 1100. good luck.

I have the rem 11-87 supermag its an awsome gun never a problem with it. Its a great gun for basically everything, i have hunted all small game, ducks, geese, turkeys, and deer with it. It also has very little kick too it shooting the 3.5 inchers. I've had it 6 or 7 years now and it never lets me down goodluck with buying one i know you will be happy with it.

Welcome to the Realtree forums.

I would not hesitate to buy a Rem 11-87. I bought mine in 2000 or 2001 and would not hesitate to do it again. When you buy one, check the muzzle very carefully. They have been known to make a barrel that does not shoot exactly straight. I have seen choke tubes that are reamed crooked. The only fix is to have the barrel cut and re-threaded or sent back to Rem for replacement. You will be able to see if there is more material on one side than the other. This can happen to any shotgun manufacturer.

The 11-87 design has been around for 18 years so it is proven. Previous to that it was the 1100 and thats been around since 1963. You have to replace the O-ring every other year or so, but it will do what you ask of it.
