Washi
I'm a pretty good sized guy. I'm about 6'1" and shoot a 29" draw with my bow. Why does it feel like to me every adult sized gun I pick up feels like the length of pull is way too long for me? I have cut at least one inch (sometimes close to two) off the stock of nearly every gun I have ever owned (except my Marlin 336) and afterward they are so much more comfortable for me and I shoot them better. When I think of people smaller than me I just don't see how they can shoot guns with the stock length of pull. What do you guys think? Oh and my brother and dad seem to have the same preference too but they have only shortened their deer rifles but leave their shotguns alone. I shorten my shotguns too. doubleA
The length of your neck has a great deal to do with the LOP. There are other factors involved too such as how skinny or fat you are and what shape/type of shoulder pocket one has. In general, most people are comfortable with appx 1 1/2" from the tip of their nose to the rear of the thumb. Folks with shorter necks will need a short LOP while someone with a long neck will need a longer LOP.
