johnf
Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like a unanimous decision. I'll set the pee free from the tree. I'm sure it was my dad who told me that when I was first learning to hunt over 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong I love my dad and am thankful to still be sharing deer camp with him. However, I have to say he was NOT a very good teacher when it came to deer hunting. Probably why he only gets a deer about every 5 years. Of course he tells me it's because he's waiting on a big one. Don't count your dad out. The vast majority older hunters who don't research much believe that any human scent will scare the deer including urine. Truth is, pee by any other name, or bladder, will smell the same. (pretty much) Though I have noticed when I put a lot of sugar in my coffee it smells like sugar smacks. Haven't tasted to see yet. BearClaw
I was sitting waiting for my ex father-in-law to do a drive. It was wet and cold so I finally decided I had to go to the bathroom. Stood up, put my muzzleloader against the tree and unzip my pants and start to go and hear all the commotion and here comes a small herd of deer running towards me! They see me, put on the brakes, ears laid back and take off up the hill. I recover and shoot but miss! Happened years agao but still laugh about it! Guest pcm
I always pee on a scrape. In fact, I usually make my own scrape right next to his if theres another branch to scrape under...Yes it gets them nuts.......Belive me....I've seen it! mule659
I have never worried about it and have never had a deer spook from it. Had many from yearlings to old does to big bucks walk right up and sniff it...never seemed to be bothered at all by it.
mathews4life
from what i've seen it has absolutely no affect. i was hunting one morning and about 7 30 my tonsils were floating from all the coffee i had drank that morning. So i quietly climbed down and went pee on an old stump about 70-80 yds from my stand. Climbed back in the stand and at 800 i shot and 8 pt standing no less than 10 steps from that stump...ever since then if i need to go i just let it flow. i believe getting down from the tree is by far worse..never know whats hangin around that you didn't see yet...just my two cents worth
fly
I have a big ole' empty "wide-mouthed" laundry bottle (TIDE) in my tree stand. Never a problem for my small appendage! Empty it at camp at the end of the day..............Replace it every season... Good suggestion. I think I'll try that. Anyone know if TIDE makes the widest-mouthed bottle? MichiganHunter
I got caught with my pants down once when i got down and walked away to pee, so now as stupid as it wounds i use an old water bottle one with out a poor spout and leak in that then dump it later, i think in the last 3 years i've had it i've only use it 2 or 3 times. I dont know about you all but them early mornings i like me a little bet of coffee and some time my pee smell just like it.....i know WTMI.....lol so i would use option C pee in my bottle
the one
O K if you really wont to get thing started when the rut kick in and your wife or girl friend is ON have her pee in a bottle and place it around your stand and then count the buck. P.S. it will take some talking to get them to do this pee in the bottle that is but if you keep it up they will do anything after awhile for you to leave them along. lololololololol
crazylegz70
actually, i hope this isnt over-stepping the boundary of discussion but how many of you guys have wee wee'd from the stand and tried to let it run down the tree so that it was a little bit quiter than just whizzing from 20 foot? I hope I am not the only one that does this....LOL

slugshooter
Based on my experience, I would say it attracts them. I've bottled it up, and let it fly. The last time I let it fly all down a tree next to me. A spike walked in about 20 minutes later. Didn't seem like it bothered him.
Born4it
I don't think I've ever had to go badly enough when on stand to actually do it...oddly enough. I usually just wait until I get back to the cabin. My dad goes in an old milk carton and dumps it out in the creek when he's done. Take care, Ryan
tallone
One morning I relieved myself in a hollow of a rotten tree and an hour later had a doe come up and actually stop and smell it for a few minutes so I'd say no.
Dawg
Might want to do a search on this topic; it has been discussed here in the past. In my experience, it will actually attract a lot of deer, especially the does. Same here. Last year I even peed in a couple of scraps that I was hunting over and it actually worked!! I had a good size 9 pointer come in and check the scraps..........but I missed him. Once the pee dries all that is left is the amonia(sp?) This is really all that is in the pee attractants. I usually get down from the stand if I have to go too bad, with the proper scent elimination techniques I think you won't leave that much of a scent trail behind. whitetailhunter32210
A buddy of mine peed in an active scrape on his hunt last year. The next time he entered the area the buck had tore the scrape up and rubbed every tree close. It seems to me it may just make bucks mad but its not gonna run any deer off
Guest ckcranch
What!?! This is crazy to read how many of you say that you pee in the woods while deer hunting and it has no negative affect on the deer. I have always been taught to never pee in the woods, that human pee will spook deer. I am not saying that I am right, but it is just hard to grasp the fact that it may not spook deer. Maybe I'll do some experimenting this season.
