texastrophies
In approximately 24 hours I will be on a big bird heading to Salt Lake City, then hopping in a rental and making the drive over to Vernal Utah, to do some scouting for my sons upcoming Elk hunt. On Sunday I am planning on easing over to the Gunnison Co. area to take a peak before the RT elk hunt. Then make the quick trip back to SLC for a monday morning flight home. Don't know if there are any members along my route (in the car, not the plane:D) but if there are, post up, I will buy lunch, dinner, breakfast or something;) depend on what time it is. texastrophies
Giving a shout out from Roosevelt, UT about 35 miles from Vernal. Will get up early in the morning and be there by sun up to see what it looks like. Took a lot of pics out of the windshield coming from Salt Lake City to here, or at least till it got to dark, man this is some pretty country. Saw 1 mule deer, think is was a doe. Probably won't get the pics up to next week, but maybe some sooner. ;)

fly
Sounds like a great weekend. I'll be heading for Salt Lake City on Wednesday. Not to scout, but work related. I may get to do a little fly fishing between meetings. If you hear of a good place near SLC to catch some trout let me know.
texastrophies
Well I am setting in a hot tub in Gunnison, CO right now. Had a pretty successfull day, found what looked like some good areas to hunt, saw a few elk, both cows & bulls, and a real nice buck, and a few antelope. Also got a couple of leads on other places from some locals and a forest ranger. Took a ton of pics, if I get out of the hot tub soon enough I will try to post a few.:D:D
ruttinbuc
Sounds like you are having a great trip, Jeff! Hope you find that best spot . Can't wait to see those pictures...
texastrophies
Getting ready to head to the airport, hopefully I can get back into Houston. Sorry about no pics, but these last two nights I have been using my aircard and it is just too slow to upload them on. Should get them up tomorrow. I am soooo glad I came up here, learned a lot, and we will be set when we come up for the hunt. If the weather is not to bad, we will be camping at over 8000 feet, as a backup plan, if we can't get up there, I have a couple of alternative camp sites down around 6000 foot. With hunting areas in both areas. Also, found a little more info on Colorado. :D:D
