Swamphunter
The second I hear a blue jay, I think of hunting deer deep in the woods somewhere. The same goes for geese, but I think more of hunting near a river then. As for as far as smells, when I smell a woodstove I immed think of deer hunting again. how about you guys and gals? Rem308
The smell of 'natural earth' scent. Or, anytime you take your boot and kick back some leaves or moss. People that don't enjoy the outdoors and hunting, just don't get it, but there is nothing like that smell on a brisk fall morning.

Also, once we get close enough, the smell of the mountain itself! The pine trees and other plants that you normally dont have around the house! Tominator
Crows seem to echo more in the fall. Crows remind me of hunting. Red bellied woodpeckers too. For smells, well, there's a distinctive smell of a poplar losing its leaves; that smell gets me going. Tinks does too, so does fresh earth wafers. RangerClay
There is something about the sound of a bluejay that gets my heart pumping. I was just explaining that to my 4 year old son the other day when we heard a bluejay out back. The first picture from a trail camera with a buck out of velvet is a great shot of adrenaline. The sight of my license when it arrives in the mail. The smell of the first batch of chili always reminds me of hunting camp.
Guest Andrea
Gun season always starts on Thanksgiving for us. So chimney smoke reminds me of hunting and the sound of football games on tv.

Ravin R10 man
Many things, Blue Jays shattering the peaceful calmness...the smell of leaves/earthy aroama...the gentle breeze rustleing the colored leaves in the trees, Robins migrating south, along with Blackbirds and Geese. Sounds of tractors and combines doing fieldwork. In the distance the call of a Hoot Owl, or the calls of a Mother Cyote and her pups... And then there are those DARN bugs that try to crawl in your nose and ears!!!
ruttinbuc
The smell of Indian summer and the approaching fall which is starting now, leaves starting to fall from the elms. The sound of my arrows punching my target gets me ramped up for sure.
elkoholic
The sight and sound of the Canadian Jays, the first elk bugle and the raucous call of the ravens. When it comes to smells it would have to be the aroma of wet "dry" grass and pine trees.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Holy cow...where do I begin . When these crisp leaves start blowing. When you are walking through the woods, or anywhere you can kick up that fresk earth scent...oh man, that one right there gets me going. Then, there is that certain feeling you get on certain days, when their is a sight over cast, yet the sun is still bright, and there is a nice cool breeze. A couple weeks ago it was in the low 70s high 60s for a a few days. THat got me thinking about sitting in a stand or a blind.
Guest Primetime/IL
Many things, Freshly picked corn and bean fields! Leaves rustling in the wind, gun powder, the feeling when you walk outside and the cool crisp air that you have not felt for a while comes in over summer. dbHunterNY
The leaves are starting to change already in northern NY! It is coming!! This is true. dougp
That first morning when you walk outside and can see your breath. Or when you take a walk and can hear the squirrels cutting acorns. Man, I miss New York!
Randyman
Oddly enough, for me it is the smell of Skunk. How many of you folks remember "Skunk Screen"? It came in 2 separate bottles and didn't have any smell until you mixed the 2, then look out! When my Dad and i started hunting Deer back in the mid 80's it was all the rage and we used it faithfully. We only used it a couple of years, but the scent of Skunk always instantly takes me back to those days hunting with my Dad.
