Switchbacker
Hey just wondered If anyone new much about how far todays slug guns can shoot accurately. I have to make a decision on whether I want to buy an inline (which I know shoots 200 yards but only one time) or a slug gun(which Im unsure of how far todays slug guns can shoot) Thanks for your help Nick
wtnhunt
Guess it would depend some on where you are hunting. Think for an open field I would probably opt for the inline, for a thich heavy woods or an area where a quick follow up might be more important would probably be more inclined to opt for the slug gun. That's how I decide on whether to take out the slug gun or the ML during firearms season. Field edge hunt, I go with the ML. Back in the woods, slug gun. Switchbacker
Basically my question is how far do todays slug guns shoot accurately to the point where you wouldn't have to aim 5 feet over a deers' back?
Hoosierbuck
Similarly sized projectiles, similar velocities, similar trajectories. My favorite slugs shoot a 348 grain (.50 cal, I think) HP bullet at a reported 1960fps. It flat hammers the deer, and I have it sighted for a tad high at 100 yards, it doesn't drop but maybe 4" at 200. Remington Core-Lokt Ultra bonded slugs. That being said, my Knight .45 and Encore .50 in-lines flat knock 'em down at those ranges, too. Just depends on what you want, and what gun you shoot them out of. Buy the Encore and get both barrels, a slug barrel and a ML. More is better, after all. HB

bluelund79
Buy both....J/K. I can accurately shoot out to 150 with both of my slug guns, but with limitations on optics here in WI during the muzzleloader season (FIXED 1X, NO RED DOTS), I limit to 75-100 with the front stuffer.
