Darron
Here are pics of my GPP plot after two weeks. We have had very little rain, so I was worried about germination and growth. What do you guys think? If any of you want to chime in on the plants growing in the pics that would be great. I know it contains wheat, oats and brassicas, but being new to this I have no idea what is what, especially between wheat and oats. I think the plant with the broadleafs on the end are the brassicas? I jumped two deer just off the plot when walking in at 11am. I hung a stand today between this plot and a bedding area.
Tominator
Kind of hard to tell, but I think I see some brassicas in there, and the grassy stuff could be the wheat. Wheat and oats look about the same. They typically grow close to the ground when it's young. Oats have kind of a bluish hue to them.
wtnhunt
Looks like your plot is doing ok, I see brassicas in your close up shots. We are in desperate need of rain here, plots and pastures are burned up.
dogdoc
looks good. How much fertilizer did you put down? I believe there is also an annual clover in that mix but I didn't see any in the pics. How deep did you bury the seed mixture? a little more rain and i bet it will really take off. The seed was buried around 1/2" deep. I put down around 125 pds of 10-10-10 fertilizer (less than an acre plot, probably more like 3/4 an acre). Is that oats and wheat coming up in the above pics? Tominator
Is that oats and wheat coming up in the above pics? It does look like wheat. Oat have a bluish hue to them. I think I see a few oat seedlings. Kind of hard t tell.

Ravin R10 man
1/2 inch..Id say you buried it..as far as grass seed...you only need to get it covered with 1/8 to 1/4 inch max. Oats and wheat should be fine...plot looks a little sparse, but being dry, that is half the problem. With some rain it may thicken if the seed isnt too deep. dogdoc
yep--1/2 inch may be a little too deep for the clover. I don't even bury my clover seed. Just toss it down and drive over it. That's the only bad thing about mixes that also contain larger seeds such as wheat and oats.
Darron
I say a 1/2" guessing. The guy that did it for me lightly disced the seed in. He adjusted the "cutters" so they wouldn't cut too deep. Having a mix of both large and small seed makes it tough, but the brassicas are coming up decent. You would think the clover would too since they are both small seed.

Also, as you can see, the plot does stay somewhat shady. I researched on here and on the qdma forums and several guys told it would grow, just to get it in the ground a little earlier. I planted it about two weeks earlier than my liking since the sunlight is filtered.
Tominator
I just planted a plot for a buddy today. The mix contained peas, and soy bean with brassicas, clover and chicory. I hand tossed the beans and peas, dragged a pallet over them with the truck then hand tossed the brassica, chicory and clover seed into the wind and left it. We're supposed to get a good rain tonight.
