Guest du9207 Posted September 1, 2008 Report Share Posted September 1, 2008 hey guys i was wondering what is required to have a FFL . i was searching online and found a website that sells a "KIT" that helps you get your license. they say that you MAY be able to even sell from your home or use you home as place of business. has anyone gone through the process or are familiar with what is needed, beginning to end??? is it a big hassle? is it even worth it? i know you get wholesale prices but is the process worth going through? snapper Posted September 1, 2008 Report Share Posted September 1, 2008 I honestly don't remember who I contacted to get started...but yes you can have a business out of your home (I do). You get wholesale prices...but you still have to pay sales tax through your state (sales and use tax) and have to have a tax ID lic. The FFL costs $300 for the first three years and $90 to renew. 2 ATF agents came to my home to interview me (background checks). There is alot of hoops to jump through and it at times seems like a hassle. I have an ATF agent coming to my home Wens. to check my records and make sure everything is up to snuff. Do a search...there should be a phone number for the main office in GA for the BATFE. Contact them...they should get you started in the right direction.
