rad_112176
Well i would start practicing every day and take my bow if it was me. i have a campsite not to far from there on the Ohio river and pass the property almost every weekend. There are some absolute giants ont he property. IL is a shotgun only state so you won't be able to use your rifle so that may help you in making a decision. Have you thought about muzzleloader? rookieee
Samson's ridge is a privately owned hunting preserve so you can hunt with rifle,I'm practicing every day I'm shooting from 20yards all the way to 50 yards hopefully with time i can get better I'm going in early Nov how is the weather at that time of year? MUDRUNNER
Rookieee is correct. It's a high fenced preserve,so they don't have to follow all of the the DNR regs. and rifles are allowed there.

ildrhntr
Yes there is a good deal of duck and goose hunting in the area not sure when it starts though you would have to look it up on IDNR web site
dougp
I don't really think it's a dilema at all. If you are not confident of making an ethical shot with your bow, take the rifle. Practice.... Practice and more practice then hunt with the bow next year. Well, that's what i would do if it were me, I am not trying to tell you what to do. dougp
thank and stay away from hanna I'm going to do my best! I'm pretty far in land, I dont think it will be a problem for us. Besides, we could really use some more rain. Best of luck on your hunt.
