hoosierhunter
Just a update that I just got off the phone with the Illinios DNR regarding the possible poaching of those Southern Ill bucks. I walked him through to the website and showed him what I was talking about. More than likely they will be contacting realtree to get this gentleman's real name and get in "touch" with him to investigate this further. Hopefully he really didn't do this, but it he did I hope they throw the book at him.... Pat

Guest flockstopper
My guess is he is just trying to take credit for someone else's kill. Seeing as how they had tags on them and the pictures were taken about the same time...still, gonna be a crappy conversation with DNR for him!!! What some folks will do just to try to get people to think they are great hunters. I think I'm a pretty good hunter, but then again, I don't gauge success on number or size of kills either. I had the unfortunate situation of knowing a guy like this once. He was new to the area and became friends with one of the landowners that let me have exclusive hunting rights on his ground. Well, this dude got wind from somewhere that I had a good sized buck I had been watching for a couple of years and he decides he will hunt out of my stand if I wasn't there that day or whatever. He called me up one night to tell me that he had killed that buck. The first stop he had to make was to my place to show off and immediately I knew that it wasn't the deer I had seen though it was a nice 10 point. My point is, there are always going to be those that try to put themselves out there to look better than they are. One thing I always remember is pretenders have to talk about how good they are, the folks that know what they are doing don't have to say a thing. crazylegz70
Thanks for making the call hoosier! I was waiting to see what would happen, but one thing is for sure. No matter what if the DNR wants to find something, they probably will. Lets not forget that in Illinois you MUST keep the tag until ALL of the meat is gone. If you have the heads mounted, there better be a legal tag there...
Mach1
If you have the heads mounted, there better be a legal tag there... I'm assuming you mean if it's at the taxidermist with this. I've seen many mounts in homes without tags.
Jorden
Well im glad someone stepped up and did something. This is the stuff that gives hunting a bad name. I never even looked at that thread until reading this one...that guy is a piece of work:mad:

I have had problems with people doing that on the land that I hunt. I hate it, but the DNR around here don't want to do anything about it. rad_112176
Good job Hoosier. Hopefully he was just bragging on someone elses deer and he didn't take any of those fine animals illegaly. Either way glad to also see a conservation agent willing to take the time to let you walk him through the site to the take action.
Solocam
What sucks about this thing is that thanks to this **** one day hunting will come to a end for us guys and gals who do it by the book! And this **** and others like him will still be doing what he (they) do best.....POACHING!!!!! Thanks to you for turning him in and thanks to everyone who turns anyone who poaches in. I know I do every chance I get. If I see some **** breaking the law I call it in!!!!!! Here in Maryland the state lets us take deer till they are coming out our ears!!! But we still have guys breaking laws left and right!!! We can take up to 6 bucks, 2 at bow, 2 at muzzleloader, 2 at firearms.....all you got to do is take a buck then kill 2 does and you can have your second buck. Its the same for each season! And to top it off you can kill oh most all the does you want to. In some parts its unlimited doe during bow and bow runs from Sept. 15 till Jan. 31. But I know, I know its about the BONE thats what they want!!!!!! Maybe we need to open a season on Poachers! With an unlimited bag limit..........naa just playin with ya! I'm sure we wouldn't have much poaching at that point?!?! Thanks again for turning the **** in. I hope he gets the book thrown at him!!!!!
