Guest bowhunter56
I use a pendulum sight, good out to 30 yds, never shot one more than 18 yards out..
hoosierhunter
Just switched my setup so I'm out to 40 with my last pin...
Straight Shooter
My two hunting bows are sighted in at 40 yards which I can shoot comfortably out to 45, just hold about 2" higher on the spot I want to hit and let the low side drag. My tournament bow is sighted in to 50 yards and that pinis good out to 55 yards.
JKAPP01
40.....once i get a new bow i think im going to site in out to 60 for elk, antelope, and some prairie mule deer.....ultimate goal is to get as close as possible.....those longer shots always make me a little nervous even if i practice that far.... ROADKILL04
well my sight pin is set out to 30 maybe 35 but i aint to comfortablr shooting that far yet do yall think that is far enough for whitetail
JKAPP01
get em within 20....my bow shoots pretty flat out to 30.......just depends on your set up. confidence is key....get really go at 20 yards.....1st....then you can expand your horizons....make sure when you practice to take good shots, and not just fling arrows to fling arrows and say you are practing...maybe try and shoot 20-25 a day REALLY concentrating on making a good shot. pa_sportsman
My last pin is sighted in at 40 yards. That pin is used only for practice. The last pin used for hunting is sighted in at 30 yards.
ROADKILL04
well i can put 5 arrows in a group about the size of a softball out to 40 yrds but i am a little shaky that far so what do yall think
Straight Shooter
Keep it within your confidant range, even if is only out to 25 yards and under. I practice most of time at 40 and 50 yards so the 30, 20 and under shots are a chip shot. Like it was stated in another post, get them close and don't have to worry about the long shots. I taken one deer at 40 yards and that was only because the situation was perfect for the long of shot. I've two at 30 yards and the rest have been any where from 25 and under. The big key to bow hunting is not how far you can shot them but how close.
JKAPP01
well since that is roughly the size of a medium sized game animal i think you are doing just fine...practice with your broadheads....
kyhunter
40 yrds
JDAWG
I have out to 60 yrds set on my bow, however I have never shot a deer past 30 yrds. I think the longer distance helps your confidence with all of the other shots. This is the only reason for the long pins....practice for confidence. LifeNRA
I practice most of time at 40 and 50 yards so the 30, 20 and under shots are a chip shot. I found this to be very helpful as well! Since I started shooting at longer distances, the 20 and 30 yards seem like child's play. I have five pins set at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. 50 yards is the farthest I have shot from, but Ill play with the 60 yard pin later. Been shooting the Muzzy's at 40 yards the last two weeks, I am ready!
Tominator
My last pin is set for 40 yards, but other than practice, I've never even come close to using it.
dbHunterNY
I have 5 pins set at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. I shoot them within 4" groups on an average day. Maybe some day I'll use the last three, but for now I've just used the first three shooting at game. - Dan
clicker
2 Pins 20 and 30 yards
arrow32
My hunting bow is set out to 50 and I could shoot a deer out at 40 yards if need be. But I like em close I shoot for them being 30 and under 25 yards is even better. My comp bow is good out to 60 yards but don't shoot it that far. Washi
I've got a sixty yard pin I've used for practice a few times. Fifty is the farthest I practice usually.
Canadian_Shooter
yea my bows sitted to 20, 30, and 40...normally ill practice at about 40 yards deffinatly makes me shoot 20, 30 yard shots with ease

Arkansas Boy
first pin is 15 yards, 2nd is 20 yards, and the third is 25 yards. I am not comfortable past that and do not trust myself to put an ethical shot on a deer beyond 30 yards.
Guest Finn
25 and 35 yards.....I remove the 35 yard pin during season
Chrud
60 yards is my last pin. I doubt I'd ever shoot that far. But, shooting at 60 yards makes 20, 30 and 40 yards seem a lot easier.
