We are on the board!

Congrats Ranchand99. They look like some tender does;). They will be good eatin'.

Our season here in NY opens on Oct.18th.

We will be ready here in this house. I did a lot of shooting this weekend and I feel good. I used to clip my release onto the string and did so since 04. Thats the way the shop set it up to shoot and it worked until I changed arrows this year(Beman380-16's to Beman Bowhunter400's) and I was not getting good flight/groups. I put a string loop on and adjusted my rest and I've been shooting good tight groups.

My Outback and I are ready.

Hope everyone had great weekend.

Congrats Ranch!

I was hoping to be bow hunting this saturday over in Ohio but not happening. Sunday is mine and the girls 6 month and she wants to go out to dinner and what not Sunday so I had to take it off work instead of Saturday. Maybe I'll be able to sneak in a morning hunt Saturday before work or push one out there Sunday morning.

There the other night I was out at the farm sitting up on top of the hill and saw a nice little 6 or 8 point. Season itd looking to bad.

Good luck arrow, maybe you can get away for a little while. Has your gf ever considered going hunting with you. I can't think of a better way to spend an anniversary.

Our archery season opens tomorrow. I think my hubby is going in the morning. Maybe I will get to go tomorrow afternoon. Got a couple stands in some really SWEET spots.

Had a great day today.

I went on an adult/child hunt with my 5 year old Brandon this morning. This was a rifle hunt.We got to the ground blind as daybreak was cracking. We got set up and everything was looking good. And then I heard some dogs.

Here is the view...

Well I know things can change no matter what, and I used to hunt with dogs growing up,so I know they don't always run all the deer in the area away.So we toughed it out.Around 8:26am I saw something at the very end of my shooting lane..285 yds away.I got the gun up in time to see a deer slip across real fast..then another. It looked like two does.I hoped a buck would be behind them,so i stayed ready for about 5 minutes.Nothing,so I relaxed.Well guess what?8 minutes later there he is,and I couldn't get on him fast enough.

So I am kind of bummed out now,and Brandon has played every game on his nintendo twice. We talked about a spider right there at us,and he held one of my bullets and imagined himself shooting only he knows what..lol

I asked him at 9am did he want to go?He said"No cause you are gonna shoot something".I said oh yeah how long? He said "Not long"then he proceeded to tell me how it was going to be a little deer...ok sure..

Well 10 minutes later at 9:10am I look up and a doe is 140yds down the shooting lane walking straight away from me.Dang it...I let her get into the lane without seeing her.I told Brandon "I see a deer".So he stands up behind me and watches over my shoulder, and says "I see it!"

I whistled 3 times, and she looked around, but wouldn't turn. Finally she did,but was going off the lane real fast, and I let it rip.I heard it connect but knew I was a little far back when I shot.He said he saw it fall, and get back up.

We took off.I heard squirrels raising cane.I couldn't find blood anywhere.NOT GOOD!We looked and looked.I was about ready to give up,and I told him.."Let's go see if those squirrels were telling on her".We went over that way, which was about 100yds and there I saw a white belly patch!

We ran over to her,and we were both excited. We relived the whole hunt, and then the work began. Here we are with the doe.

Jacob backed out for this evening, but Brandon stepped right up.

We went to where me and Jacob saw 2 on the way out yesterday evening. We made a ground blind, and settled in.Well it wasn't but about 40 minutes when I saw a buck step out way down the path.I told Brandon "deer",and he had just stood up to look when I shot.I saw the deer bunny hop,and take off.We ran the 213yds to where I shot him,and I saw him down a mowed path.He was about to buckle, but I put another one in him and that was it.

Brandon was fired up again!..lol We got a pic on the phone then it was time for work.Nice little basket rack.7pt southern count.5pt by my count.I will post my upgrade shortly...

Congrats Ranch. It is so awesome to take kids on the hunt. I sat out yesterday afternoon for the first time with my bow. I saw 2 does and 3 fawns. I had one of the fawns come about 6-7 yards away from the base of my stand. It was so cool to have them that close and they never knew that I was there. Two of the fawns were twins and they were running around playing, bucking and kicking at each other. It was awesome to watch. I plan on getting out some this week in the afternoons after work. Maybe I'l get something with my bow.
