Team #1 -- Blood Trail Bandits

Got back from the incredibly frigid woods. Jeez! We woke up to 8 degree weather on Saturday morning and Sunday was no bargain either at 10. The wind was brutal. The deer sightings have went down to zero. My son sat in my doe hot spot, in the apple orchard and did not see a single deer in 4 sittings. The highlight of the weekend was the porcupine my son considered shooting. It got a pass.

Most of my neighbors have tagged out and it has been a good year for most of my hunting buddies. I still have a buck tag and 2 more weeks of rifle season left to go. I am optimistic hoping to upgrade to a buck. We still have a few tags left between my 3 sons and I. Any deer taken from this point forward will be donated to the venison donation program for the homeless.

Finished cutting up last Tuesday doe...MMMM will she be good eatin':)

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Today was our gun opener was out all day 18 deer total. I passed on 1 small buck and then saw another small buck later in the day but no shots. Its looking good tho I hope something happens within the next couple days. I don't want to be stuck at the end of the week without a deer down.

Rained the whole day here today and still is suppose to have a few inches of snow on the ground in the next couple days maybe more:confused: wierd weather we have sometimes. Lots of shooting going on tho so some people are shooting something.

Girlfriends little brother shot a monster 11pt today I'll try and get some pics up so you can see it.

Best of luck to all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! My wife is making Candy like crazy. I can already tell im going to gain ten pounds.

I went out yesterday. I really didn't see anything but squirrels. I regretted not taking the squirrel rifle!

Same here. Sat in a ladder stand down by the river and saw tons of squirrels. There was one point when I heard movement coming closer and closer right behind me and my heart started pumping real fast. I slowly turned around and it was a blasted squirrel. Still was kinda exciting though.

I saw 2 of the biggest bucks I have ever saw in the woods yesterday...one, while we were stuck in traffic on the NYS Thruway going over the Tappan Zee bridge, to my brothers in CT for turkey:rolleyes:. My son Joe and I noticed it at the same time. You had to see me going baaa baaa out the window trying to get him to pick his head up:D My wife says I'm nuts, kids were laughing and other drivers had no idea what I was doing. Then when we get to my brothers in Bethel,CT we get out of the van. Right across the road is a BIG 8 with mass, and a very white polished rack. He had 4 bedded around him. He pushed them deeper in the woods as we got closer.

I asked my brother to find out who owns that land there.

Hope everyone had a great Holiday!

I am leaving for deer camp at noon looking for horns and I have another doe tag to fill!. Our land has been left alone for a week and I am hoping it has become a sanctuary. We have a hunting camp that we share a border with and I hope the deer are hiding on my land.

Good Luck team and I'll talk to you soon.

Anthony

Ive been out a couple of times this week. I havent seen much. I did jump a couple and see a couple of bucks yesterday. I was to busted to try and get on them.

I wanted to go out today. Its in the 30's and was snowing earlier but the wind is around 25mph. That kept me in the house. The deer wont be moving!

Last week hunted all day every day. Not a thing. I bet I saw around a 100 deer no shooters. Going out tonight we need meat so I'm going to drop a doe or something. The season is getting long now tho I'm worn out and tired to much staying up late and not enough sleep.

This year I've been on the pursuit of mature whitetails and I think it'll make me come up empty handed. But we will see. I'm trying:D

Best of luck to ya'll!

My son Joe and I are off for the last weekend of rifle season in the southern zone of NY. Muzzleloading starts on Dec 8 til Dec 16.

We will be doing a heck of a lot of drives on private land. Drives that we have been saving til this weekend.

Good Luck everyone and hunt safe.

Cody, I have a good feeling about you banging out a big one this weekend.;) Good Luck.

Congrats JM! Does=meat, and atleast 5 pts too :D

My son and I are back. No bucks:( but my son did fill another doe tag :) The kid is a machine. He shot this one on a drive him and I did at 35 yards. He said it was like the Bulls from Pampelona. About 10 came running right at him and they veered off at the last second when they saw him. He got one to stop to the classic

"Baaa" She was a big one and dry also. She was not lactating.

There also was a tremendous amount of fat on her. She just ate real good and didn't make babies.

Good management doe.

Hope everyone did better.

OK, my last few days of deer hunting are about to get underway. Almost all of NY's deer seasons will be ending Tuesday. Muzzleloading season is underway, and I will be out the next few days trying to shoot a buck. Our tags are either sex, but I think we took enough does(3) in a area that has antler restrictions(3 on one side). So I will ONLY be looking for horns. Which will be rare. Hopin' for a yote.

The temps are 10-15 degrees colder at camp than here at home. We have had mondo rain the last few days, and all of that was snow up at camp. So, I have some shoveling to do when I get up there to open the house:rolleyes:. I'm off at noon.

Wishing everyone good luck this weekend if yer goin' out and I'll be back...maybe Tuesday.

What a great wife I have:D.

I HAVE to get her some good gifts this year...I owe her:p

BTW...we are currently in 4th place.
