lil hunter
I've gotten out hunting once so far. Saw 4-5 does, but they all stayed in the 50 yard range in some brush. This saturday the low is spose to be in the mid 30's, and I finally got my work schedule changed so I can hunt sunday morning! I can't wait, should be a good morning with a cold front starting to come through.
oo_buck
Went this morning, for the first time. Really green. Lots of leaves still on, weeds everywhere, looked like spring turkey season. We need a frost to kill the mosquitos too.
Squirrelhunter91
Well team.. Didn't see a thing this morning. Not a deer, squirrel or bird. Sat and froze in the 38 degree temps and 15mph winds til about 9am and went in. Got breakfast at the diner, took a power nap and then went back out around 2:30pm. Around 4pm I had a button buck come in and walk around the bottom of each oak tree in front of me looking for acorns. Too bad there aren't any. Our area didn't produce acorns this year for some reason. I had this button buck broadside at 12 yards for a few minutes. I decided to let him go. I'll catch up with him in 3 years or so. I'll be out again tomorrow morning and afternoon. I'm hoping to down atleast a doe sometime soon.
lil hunter
I got up a little earlier than I needed to today so I decided to cruise the forums a bit before I go huntin.lol. I'll be headin up to my treestand soon though. We've had a cold front hit in the past couple days, so I'm hoping the deer will be moving. I can't wait to get up there huntin. pendog
Hey team, I was able to harvest my first bow buck on Sat morning, he is only a 5 pointer but i took him for my frist one. Im not sure if the 1 point will be able to count so it might only score as a 4. Was going to pass but i felt like i should try and take him. Alot of fun with the bow, he doesnt even come close to many of my gun bucks but im still proud and happy i was blessed with him. I'll post the pics and score in the room. Squirrelhunter91
Well team.. I lied. I shot that button buck this afternoon. I'll enter the deer in the contest when I get the tag back from the butcher in a day or two.
Dawg
Good job Joe. I'll be back in TX this weekend and will be out in the woods Saturday morning and evening. My ol' man has been throwin some corn out and has rye, oats, and winter peas planted. He said the deer have been hittin the corn real good and I have a good footed deer coming in to my spot. I'll let ya'll know first thing Monday morning.
pendog
Well i posted my buck, 9 points for the team. I looked back and we have taken 1 doe and 1 button buck also mine. That should give us 19 points when we all enter them. Good job team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dawg
Good job Andy. Congrats on your first bow kill!!! Looks like the rest of us have some catching up to do..
bfletch7441
Wow, I forgot all about this! I've been out a few times, but nothing on the ground yet. Muzzleloader season starts this saturday with rifle not far behind, hopefully I'll do some good over the next 3-4 weeks. Congratulations on the kills guys! DSGB
Congrats to those who've scored so far! I haven't even drawn back on one yet. Had a few close calls this weekend, but never had a shot opportunity. Passed on a couple young bucks, too. Next week (Nov 5-8) I'll be going on a quota hunt at one of our management areas. Bucks have to have four on one side, so if I shoot a buck, it'll be a decent one. I'll be breaking out the .270 for that hunt.
oo_buck
I've been in the woods three times... It's not looking too good.... I hope the weather starts cooperating with me soon.
Dawg
I went out Saturday morning and evening with no luck. There is sign every where, they are eating the corn like crazy, but I guess they decided to sleep in Saturday. Oh well, maybe next time! Squirrelhunter91
I shot another doe this afternoon. It really doesn't mean much for us but it's more meat in the freezer for me. The pics are really crappy that I posted because they were off cell phones. The big pic is off my cell and the other one is off my brothers. I'll have better pics up tomorrow because my dad will be back from upstate with the digital camera. You've gotta see the entrance and exit holes the Slick Trick burned too. I love these heads. DSGB
I killed an eight pointer this morning on the next to last day of the quota hunt I was drawn for. He's not huge, but it's a decent eight. I'll have to post the pics and story sometime tomorrow. I'm beat!
