Comming to ya from a treestand in IL. Chalk up an upgrade for me. Put an arrow through a 140 class 9 point yesterday afternoon. Hunting for trophy does up here now and maybe catch a few bucks with my camera. More to come when I get home including pics.

Congrats, that is awesome:D:cool:

Hey guys going home tomorrow so I will finally be able to get out for a few days. My dad said that he had been seeing some big bucks, but they all have been a night because it has been so warm. Luckly we are getting a weather break this weekend its suppose to be in the 30's and 40's and rain/snow but hopefully that wont affect them to much. Going to probably my best stand on saturday morning. It has some nice scrapes and rubs in some thick cover right along a trail so hopefully I'll get some activity. Good luck to everyone else.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREA...better late than never. ;)

Saw lots of deer Friday and Saturday down here but the older bucks have gone into hidding before pre-rut activity starts. Where I hunt in MS the rut usually peaks around the last week of December.

Now's a good time to take off for other parts of the country again. I'm heading to Kansas this coming Saturday. I'll spend a week up there on a "do it yourself" hunt on private leased land. Should be great provided the weather is cool. I won't hunt again until I get there since I plan to stay in the woods all day long while I'm in Kansas for those 7 days.

This weekend was really bad for me:(. Went to probably my best stand on saturday morning. It was cold and we had had a light snow the night before. When I got out there it changed from snow to rain so I sat there for 3 hours in the rain and never saw a thing:mad:. That night I went out again and had a doe and a fawn come out a couple hundred yards away on the field but they took off pretty quick.

Didnt get a chance at all to get out sunday but that was probably for the better. My dad went and didnt see a thing plus it was raining and windy all day. Went out this morning before I came back to school. About 10 minutes after I got in the stand I heard a deer coming in behind me. I turned and looked and saw that it was a buck. Unfortunately that is all I saw. He continued around behind me and never really gave me a good view of him. I put some doe estrous out before I climbed in and he came downwind of me so he must have smelled it but once he saw there was no doe he must have figured his time would be well spent somewhere else:D. As he trotted away I grunted and snort-wheezed at him but he didnt want any part of that either.

Will be home again in two weeks for the opener of gun season. Good luck to everyone else:)

Tomorrow morning I take off for Kansas for a week of bowhunting. Hopefully I'll have better luck than Tim did. I'll be out of pocket for the next 9 days, including my 2 travel days.

Good luck to everyone while I'm gone.

Good luck with the opening of your season too Andrea. By the time I get back you'll finally be spending some time in a treestand.

Well the weekend before rifle season opened up the bucks were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Then on opening day I saw seven does. My daughter shot one and I missed one. Since then there have been very few deer even seen by anyone. I'm hoping they move better this weekend.

MZ started Friday...that morning I let 3 small bucks walk. Saw 3 does and 2 fawns the next day...and a doe last night. Headed back out this afternoon. I have a really good stand next to a HUGE white oak tree with acorns EVERYWHERE. Lotsa deer sign.

Good luck guys!

I'm back from Kansas. Hope ya'll put some down while I was gone.

My Kansas hunt was disappointing to say the least. Worst I've seen it in the 6 times I've bowhunted in Kansas. In all I saw 5 rack bucks in 6 hard days of hunting. Here's a picture I took from one of my stands of an 8 point that I passed up on the 4th afternoon. This was about the same spot where I killed my B&C buck on Nov. 20, 2004. This picture was taken on Nov. 20th last week. Nice buck but not what I was after in Kansas.

The biggest buck I saw (twice) was a 140 class 9 point off this same stand. He was also just a little short of what I was looking for in KS too. I've seen better bucks than that every other time I hunted there in the past.

Time to get after these MS bucks now with firearms and put my bows away until next year.

Sorry bout the hunt Rhino..........next time huh? I killed a 200 pound boar last night. And since I hate wild hog meat....we gave it to a friend of ours. Hopefully next time I can shoot a sow instead.;)

Well...what's happening teammates? What's going on in your neck of the woods?

I took out a cull buck Friday afternoon here in MS. He was a 5 1/2 year old short tined 7 point so no upgrade. I had quite a few trail cam pics of him. I just couldn't let him walk going into our breeding season down here. Our rut is just starting to crank up with the young guys doing a little chasing so it's fixing to get right here at home. Two bucks left in my MS bag limit. ;)
