NY_Bowhunter14
Here he is... not a monster 9, but still a great buck... It was a pretty uneventful afternoon... about 20 minutes before dark, my dad radioed me on the radio and said he saw a MONSTER heading kinda in my direction, so i grabbed my muzzleloader and got ready... as i look in the direction where the big boy should be coming from, i see movement, and a rack... i figure it to be a small buck, so i don't pay much attention, however, as i got a better look, i see he could possibly be a good size 6... so i put the scope on him and confirm it... knowing the chances of the big boy coming by me are slim, i decided to take a shot at this 6... dead broadside at 35 yards, i let my T/C Triumph do its job... as the smoke clears he doesn't look hit... because it was getting dark and very wet, i decide to get down almost immedatly... i get down, and i see blood! i back off and let another guy that was hunting with us, meet up with me, he has been hunting on this property for years, so he know the woods and thick stuff(where deer ran) very well... he ends up having me stop at last blood and him and my dad go on... they end up finding him, but he is still alive, so this guy puts one in him so the deer doesn't suffer... as i got up to him, i notice the rack immedatly, we have trail cams pics. of him, and he is no 6, he is a 9! my biggest deer ever, and i couldn't be happier, i'm taking him to the taxidermist in a few hours to get him mounted! bluelund79
Gun season starts Saturday, I will be in the woods/ marsh early at the funnel I found. Hopefully the others showing will push some my way, and I won't be too picky...In our zone that I am hunting I can shoot as many as I want, and I already have my Earn A Buck tag from last years doe in case a buck is the first one through....Good luck to all and be safe. Eric Is there a reason that our scores haven't been updated with the 2 deer added?

toddyboman
Congrats again Shane! Heck of a season you're having Well I am still hunting.....Saw a couple nice bucks tonight but between fading light and the blowing snow I just couldn't get a good enough view for a shot.....Didn't want to make a bad shot so maybe I will have another run in with one of them later
bluelund79
Nice deer Shane. Got run off public land by the idiots this year. At least I can use any weapon during the ML season, so I can get some am hunts in before work and on the weekends. Very disappointing season for me this year. There is also another late season anterless as well as some holiday hunt, so all is not lost until late Bow in Jan.
NY_Bowhunter14
my season is pretty much over, i can no longer shoot a buck till mid-december(Bow/Muzzleloader season runs for 1 week mid-december, can take a buck OR a doe), and we already have enough meat in the freezer, and i'm not gonna go out just to shoot something for the fun of it... its been a good season overall, two deer on the ground, and a lot of meat in the freezer... bluelund79
Had to travel to a conference for work, so I missed the T zone anterless hunt this weeke,d. However, this weekend wasn't a waste because I secured permission to hunt some friends land for the late season hunt during xmas and New Years. Maybe this season won't be a bust afterall. They are still seeing deer, and everyone there has tagged out this year with what they want for the freezer...Hopefully I will get to add to the fillers of freezers for my own growing family. bluelund79
Todd, Great story and nice freezer fill. Going after xmas for the holiday firearms hunt, a buddy I work with gave me permission to come play at his place....WOn't have to worry about people not using binos, that is for sure! bluelund79
Have to work for the next 3 days, but my wife gave the go ahead to stay with my buddy after new years so I can get the last few days of the holiday hunt in. Its going to be nice to see more deer than pumpkins this trip! Funny thing is, more than likely, I will get to hunt a new state next year as work may have me moving this summer....Kentucky has always looked promising, and the Lexington area is especially beautiful....Keeping the fingers crossed!!!! Good luck to all, Eric
bluelund79
Leaving tomarrow afternoon for my buddies. Can't wait, just me and him and 125 acres....This seems to be my last chance for a deer since my wife is getting further along and being a little more needy than earlier in the season, but she is worth it! Hopefully I can cap the teams season!
bluelund79
Killed a doe yesterday, finally. 100 yard shot with my 25.06, no heart left, she fell on the spot. Might go try one more time tomarrow, but that pretty much caps a long season, just happy that I could help the tally. Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.
