off and running

Well, guys: Weekend two of WI Bow season has come and gone. I was fortunate to have multiple opportunities on deer this weekend and saw plenty of other game over the past two weekends.

I may have made a mistake (well not really). I passed on a very nice 2 1/2 year old 8 point (probably 110"). I just keep telling myself, "it has to be bigger than your biggest bow kill". I also had a fork come in and a doe.

To top the weekend off, in route to my stand (yesterday AM) I walked upon a "horse"... (literally, I thought it was a horse), only to realize it was a freagin' monster! Needless to say, I have my work cut out for me to bag this boy and put some points on the board for team predator!

Best of luck to all.

Well guys I let some points walk by today...I don't feel bad about it though. She was just a young doe and with it being only my second day out of the year there is no way I was shooting a youngster. I want her to grow up and have some healthy babies! Maybe her momma or daddy will come out tomorrow for me!!

2 weeks into the season, and I have yet to be out. I'm afraid I may end up letting you guys down. My Dad isn't doing well at all, and I have been spending most of my free time either at the hospital, or at my parents house taking care of stuff for my mom. Unfortunately. it looks as if hunting is not gonna be my priority this fall. Family first, there will be other hunting seasons.

I'm sure I'll get out a few times, and I have some pretty good property, so I will do my best to not put up a goose egg for the team.

Well tomorrow will my first day out.

I have to work, but only a few hours (noon-3pm) so I'll get a morning hunt in and an evening. I'll also get a evening hunt in Friday.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!

I spent my lunch break at home today getting everything ready. I'm not expecting much from my morning spot, but I should have some activity at my evening spot. When I see that doe inside 20 yards tomorrow it's going to be hard to lay off, but my plan is to wait for big boy. If the bucks are there they will wait until the does are in the fields before leaving the woods.

I can't tell you how easy it was to get up at 4:30 today.

Well this morning 4's were wild.

Saw 4 does (100 yards and moving away):(

4 squirrels and

4 geese.

I't's been a long off season. I keep going back and forth on waiting till dark for a buck or shooting the first doe I see tonight.

Well no does tonight, but I did see 2 bucks. The first was a 9-pointer at 75-100 yards. He was a beauty! Probably 2.5 years old and would go 120". He was eating beans in the field about 20 minutes till dark. The second buck was a four pointer at 40 yards. I let the 4 point walk, and I would have let the 9-point walk (if he had come closer). Ya know I just can't get over how awesome their sense off smell is. The 9-point grazed in the beans until he crossed the path I took entering the woods. He smelled my scent (3 hours old), looked up and became alert. Not seeing anything he just turned and walked back into the woods. The four point followed.

Also had a flock of turkeys roost in some trees 30 yards from me. That was cool.

I realize this isn't a journal so I'll shut-up until I get some meat to show off.

Saw the 9-pointer again at 30 yards tonight and let it walk. Saw another 8-pointer 1.5 year old and the 4-pointer again as well.

At 6 I saw a doe and took a 20 yard quartering away shot.

Grazed the back. No blood, but some hair on my feathers.

If i'm gonna miss that's how I like them to be.

oh how do i add the signature??

Right click on the signature and click "save picture as".

Then save it on your computer somewhere where you can find it. I saved it as a JPEG (image file). Then open your profile and click User CP (user control panel). Under settings and options click edit signature. Scroll down until you see the signature picture area. Go to the upload section:

Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer

Browse your computer and upload the signature wherever you saved it at. Then click Insert Signature Picture

and finally save the signature.

Well I hunted pretty hard the first couple days... didn't see nothing... So friday morning I made my mind up I was gonna sit it out as long as I could... didn't see anything til about 10:30 when 2 does made their way past the stand... offering no shot... I remained seated... bored texting the girlfriend back and forth joking around with her... came 11:15 here comes 3 more does same path but a little bit slower... I got one to stop at about 37 yds drew back layd the 30 yd pin about her lungs and touched it off... it was flying perfect! fixin to lay it right in the broiler room... when within 5 ft of her it struck a small twig and kicked my arrow straight up... right into the backbone... melted in her tracks...

Tipped the scales at 110lbs feild dressed... very big doe for this neck of the woods...
