ccwhitey
Congrats on the nice deer dawg. I just finished up a dismal IL 2nd shotgun season. Sat morning we had 25+ mph winds with a low of 17 and man was it cold. I only saw one deer all day with sitting in the stand for over 8 hrs. Today I went out and saw a fork horn in the morning that I passed up on and two does that were in too much brush for me to shoot. Tonight I went back out and saw the three deer and none of the does would get out of the bruch long enough to give me a shot. This weekend was basically the last weekend that I will hunt because I have hunted the last month hard and can count the deer that I have seen on both of my hands:mad:. Sorry for no help with getting some points, but I will try when again to get aleast a doe over my winter break. Hope that all of you seasons have gone well cc
Bowtech_archer07
Whitey, it wasn't cold it was COLD most of the weekend. I took a 150 yd shot on a doe with my muzzleloader Sat. night but missed, I think I shot over her. Tonight I had 3 come in but couldn't get them stopped. I still have 2 archery tags, a muzzleloader tag for next weekend and my either sex shotgun tag is now an antlerless only tag for late-winter season. If the wind dies down, I'll be out some over winter break hopefully, but I also plan on working over break too, so we'll see. It may just be weekend hunts. The land I'm hunting for ML season is buck-rich, there are consistently huge deer seen and big deer taken off of this place, so hopefully I get a chance to upgrade. Hope all have had good seasons so far...
Bowtech_archer07
Well, IL muzzleloader season opens tomorrow and I'll be hunting over an awesome looking bedding area with an amazing trail coming through it. I'll be holding out for a buck until Sunday evening because we have 3 deer in the freezer already. This ground is amazing at producing trophy whitetails year in and year out. There has already been a 150" deer taken off of it, probably 4-5 more deer in that category seen, and 1 giant was shot at and missed during 1st gun season. Hopefully it will be a good season. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and sunny with it getting warm and windy Saturday and just plain hot(55-60 degrees for the high) on Sunday. Nights will still be cool so hopefully the morning hunts will still produce well. I'm getting excited about this!!!
Bowtech_archer07
No luck this morning. Jumped a coyote walking out, but didn't see anything on stand. Headed back out tonight. It is an awesome looking spot. I hope it produces!
bulldawg
Good luck out there. It is one windy bugger up here. Was going to go ice fishing, but I think I'll pass. Dawg

bulldawg
Nice buck, buddy. I'm not real good at guessing scores, but it's definitely a nice one. Congrats. Dawg

ccwhitey
Heading out to my grandpa's farm 2.5 hrs away this weekend to conclude my hunting season for the year. Hopefully I'll be able to add some points to our team.
bulldawg
Good luck out there. Happy New Year, down a big one! Dawg
Bowtech_archer07
Good luck Jared. I don't know how much hunting I'll get in this weekend or next week. Probably not much. I don't really have any place to go, no food sources to hunt or anything. But we'll see. The weather is supposed to be crappy this weekend here too. Then 2 weeks from now is late-winter season which is doe only so it's not looking good for me to upgrade. Happy New Year to all as well... ccwhitey
Well this weekend turned out to be a bust like the rest of my season. Hunted all weekend and the only deer that I saw were this morning 120 ydrs away. Season is still open for another two weeks, but I'm so burnt out with not seeing any deer I don't know if I will do much more hunting. I will try to go out some more but no promises. Hope all had a good new yr. Jared

Bowtech_archer07
Well, this weekend marks the late-winter season and last 3 days of deer season for IL. It is an antlerless only season, so I can't upgrade, but I'll probably be out there if it warms up trying to put a lil more meat in the freezer. Right now we have a -10 air temp with a -24 wind chill, but it's supposed to warm up to highs of about 20 or 25 above this weekend. Hopefully it does and I can make this one of my best seasons ever. If I get one this weekend, I will have harvested 3 deer in 1 yr which would be the most that I have ever gotten. And I also got one of my biggest bucks ever. I'll keep everyone updated. Bowtech_archer07
Season's over here in IL. Only made it out twice due to work and brutal weather. Didn't see any deer on stand and spooked 8 walking in and out Saturday evening.
