'BigMoss' and I went out to try and fill my mulie tag tonite-he got his whitetail buck yesterday. We spied some pretty good horns sticking out of standing oats so Robert videoed while I stalked in. The oats are 4-5 feet high so I got right on top of him-40 yards face on but all I could see was the top of his head and horns. I had to pressure him till he bounced off and shot at him on the move. It sounded like a solid hit and Robert has him on video falling over after about fifty yards. The oats were too high to find him tonight so I guess we'll be looking in the A'M.

Congrats Wimpy!

Any luck finding your buck SG.

I hunted Saturday morning for the first time this season.Seen a few does, but no shots. The wind was light, but swirling pretty bad.It felt good to be in the woods again and get the ticker pumping from seeing a few does up close.Highs are still in the 80's here, so hopefully it will cool off soon.

Well last night I had a fawn come up behind me aboout 5 yards and play then I had two spike bucks come up about 10 yards from me and play and I heard something else coming up and it sounded really big. I was ready for it to come out but then fire trucks, first responders, an ambulance and several cops all with there sirens on came down my road and scared it off. One of my friends had a bad four wheeler wreck. Her and her new husband were riding four wheelers (she is four months pregnant) well one of them got med flighted out. I dont know which one yet. Im just praying for them. I am also taking a 13 yr old boy out hunting this weekend (youth gun season here) he has never killed anything and his mother wants me to take him out so Ill be hunting most of the weekend (me with my bow of course). Ill try to take a doe unless I get that big buck Im after to put us in the lead. Oh by the way, that big boy I had last year that was 12 points last years is now 15 points. Thats the one Im after. Unless the kid gets a shot at him first. Good luck to all.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Last week was my muzzleloader week here in Iowa. If it doesn't hang on the wall it doesn't get shot. I had some great hunts, however, all 8 buck were the 8 point (16 inch wide type). They will hopefully all turn into nice deer if the gun hunters let them grow.

This past Friday the young bucks started following the mature does. Stupid youngin's don't quite know what's going on yet. Seems all the old mature bucks are still being sneeky. Corn was put in late around here so there is still tons standing in the fields. Way too much places for the big boys to hide. I will start to concentrate on archery this coming week.

Good luck to all

Well, the press was broke yesterday, so I had the day off. I got a late start this morning, needed to take my daughter to school. Got in the tree about 10:30AM, noticed three does heading out after they watched me climb! LOL! Curious little devils! :D No deer until about 5PM, a six pointer, a legal deer for Pennsylvania. I must be getting older! I let him pass! He was only at 14 yards too! :D Could have drilled him five or six times! Had two more does walk under the tree, but I could tell they were too young. All in all, it was a good day! Heading out tomorrow morning for an all day sit in the tree!

I haven't been on here lately. this hunting season has been very difficult for me . I wasn't sure I would be able to even pull my bow. I cant remember if I mentioned that I had a bad break in my left shoulder in June. two weeks before bow season i couldn't even lift my bow. the first week end bow season i walked within 15 yards of a doe, by placing my bow on my knee i was able to draw, but holding it was hard and i missed by feet. after a meeting at my bow club i was able to borrow a youth bow to practice drawing, building my strength for my own bow. at our annual club hunt i had thought myself to shot left handed with my bow, but still had eye dominance problems. i wasn't able to even pull the youth bow and was getting disappointed but still i hunted. every weekend i found my self in a tree. than the last week in October on a Tuesday evening hunt i tried to pull my bow and to my relief i did it. now i looked forward to this weekends hunt. on November 1 this year i was bow hunter, at 5:30pm I harvested my first deer of the season a nice doe (pictures to follow) at 6:00pm my arrow my arrow had found its way to put down another. second deer went to needy family.
