BuckNrut
School is going great so far. I've had six exams as of today, and my lowest grade thus far is a 93%. This Saturday I'll be combining "trips". First we go buy my hospital clinic uniform, and then we setup some tree stands. After all the "work", I'm going to try and get my daughter to shoot her first squirrel. Bow season is still a month away.

Anybody know how to get us one made? Glad to hear the tests are all going good BuckNRut. I've got my stand locations all picked out, but will probably use climber to start with to make sure i can move easily if need be. Hope you and the daughter get some squirells. Be sure to get some picks with her and post them.
Muff
Well I seen him......was out cutting wood last week, as we were driving out there he was....a GREAT BIG 10 pointer....WOW....easy in the 130's maybe even up to the 140's....really thought that this windmill project would have moved them all out of the area but it seems like they are just getting use to it....who knows maybe I will get a shot at him. It a pretty good spot to hunt. Which is really nice its only about 3 miles from work. So I cant wait for the right wind to get out there now. rad_112176
Well guys. It's almost D day. IL opener in 2 days and i am ready. It will be a little different since most of the corn is still up. Usually it is has been cut for a couple of weeks already. We have seen a couple nice bucks and have a pretty good plan set up for opening morning. Looks like we will be getting a nice little cold snap for opening day also. I have a hard decision to make for the weekend though. Either hunt or go the Talladega race. Still haven't made up my mind. Well, good luck to everyone and hopefully we can get one on the board. BuckNrut
Nice job WI! Send some of that scent screen my way. The season here doesn't start for two weeks yet. At least I have my 3 stands up. I did not see any buck sign while scouting yesterday. I'll have to wait for the girls to bring 'em by. BTW, by the end of the week this 'ol boy will be going "broadband"!
rad_112176
Congrats WI. Glad to see we are on the board. I went out a couple days last week and didn't see very many deer. There is still so much corn up that it is crazy. Seen a few does and a couple small bucks. I may try and fill a doe tag this week after work. Walking out of the wood on Wednesday evening my little brother did notice a group of bucks hanging out on the edge of a corn field. Said there were 2 bucks in there that were 130" plus deer. I was a little busy this weekend in Talladega watching the race so i didn't get in any hunting. It was worth it though. I will post some pics on here this week to show our seats. Good luck guys. rad_112176
Well guys i got out tonight after the rain and wind all day. I was 13 yrds from a 140 - 150 inch 10 pt and couldn't get off a shot. He was a awesome buck and just came in directly at me, stopped on the other side of the tree and walked off the only way i could not get a shot. Made me sick to just watch him walk away. I could have taken a couple of possible shots, but i was playing it smart and didn't want to just wound a awesome buck like that. He never knew i was there so hopefully he will come back tomorrow night. Anybody else seeing anything?

rad_112176
Hey guys, Has anyone been seeing anything? It's been an interesting year for me so far. I bought a tag for MO last week since i was out here working and had a little plot of land i had my eye on. Plus i seen 2 bucks that would go 150+ with some does early in the week and this land is land locked by businesses on 3 sides. After a little research i got permission to bow hunt it so i bought my tag. Well first night out i have 15 deer within 40 yrds of me and a big 11 pt comes into the field. He starts to walk the edge right to me and i think he is coming to 20 yrds. He turns part way to me at what i think was 30 yrds, broadside, and since i am not posting a pic with bragging rights you can take it that i missed. Shot my bow the next day and i guess my sights got bumped cause i was shooting over a foot low. Made me sick. Went out in IL this weekend and seen some nice ones but none even close to shooting distance. I did pass on a few does and got a nice 6pt on camera at 5 yrds. Seeing some nice bucks up and moving already though so hopefully i can get on one of them this week. I am back in MO working starting tomorrow and plan to hunt all evenings of the week. Hopefully i can post a pic of one of those bucks with my hands around his horns. LOL. Good luck to everyone and keep us updated. rad_112176
Hey guys, Just to give you a little update on the latest news. Some friends seen that big 11 and the 14 pt out in the field this weekend, but i was hunting in IL as you know. Tried to go out last night but got rained out. Well it was actually the lightning that ran me out. I also talked to the owner of a property management firm in the area that owns alot of ground and he gave me permission to hunt another couple of pieces of land that totals over 700 acres. Most of this land has never been hunted and he said i was the first person to ask. My brother is coming up next week so i am out today or tomorrow (depending on weather) to set up a couple more stands. Have seen some nice bucks on the other land, but i have my eye out for one of the two on the little piece of land. Well, hope everyone is able to get out and we are just days from when the rut activity should start to pick up. Hang in there Steve, those bucks should be up and about here shortly. rad_112176
Hey guys, Here is a pic of one of the nice ones that i had at 80 yrds this morning. I was a little off on the land acreage. It is actually about 500 acres. Still nice though. Good luck guys.

rad_112176
Hey guys. Had an interesting sit last night. Hadn't had a good evening stand, but think i have found it. Got in the stand around 4pm and around 5 had 3 does work there way past me. Had a couple of the does right under my stand and could have shot all 3 of them at any time. Didn't want to take any does since i had been seeing all these good bucks. Well about 40 minutes later had the nice buck that is in the picture below walk past at at 15 yrds. He hung out around my stand for about 30 minutes and had numerous shots i could have taken. Since i had been seeing all these other mature bucks i decided to let him walk. Probably would have been in my top 3 of bucks i have ever taken and i decided to let him walk. Never thought i would have the option to let a 10 pt walk. Going back to the same stand tonight. I did see either a large 8 pt or a broken up 10pt that came by at 60 yrds. I couldn't get my binocs up to look at his rack since the buck in the pic was about 5 yrds away from me. Didn't want to get busted. Still looking good.
