My Illinois hunting partner here in PA called the other night and it seems the place we hunted last fall had a last minute cancellation....guess I'll be huntin Fulton County Ill. the first week of Nov.!!!:D Called and ordered my permit etc and I am looking forward to this trip. Last year we hunted around the 18th of Oct and it was too early...hot/windy..saw deer but the bucks were not ready to play yet. This time I hope for a biggun!!!!

To tell you the truth..I was not even planning on going this year. I killed a big tom in gobbler season and paid big $$$ to get a full strut mount done and was gonna forget it for this time around but .... I'd like to find a place or an outfitter in Ohio to hunt with..that trip to Illinois is 900 miles for us.

OK, I don't mean to crash y'all's party, but Tom, I'm not sure, but did he answer your question?

I think we both should be hunting with Tominator!!!

That's the thing with Chris, he says he would have given up bowhunting if it wasn't for me, because all his hunting spots are small in acreage and get pressure from other hunters. BUT, he shot a monster last Sunday on his very own 5 acres, killed a nice 8 pointer a few years ago on a smaller piece, and killed Bruno on his buddies small 7-10 acres plot......Ask him about all the deer he's killed on the land I got him in on.....:D

Hey guys! I hunted in Illinois this last weekend and shot a BIG OLE DOE. I thought the shot was a touch back, but still lungs and liver. We backed out to retrieve her the next morning and the coyotes had beat us to her. I have never seen a whole deer devoured so quickly, only thing that was left was the hide, neck meat, part of one front shoulder and the heart and lungs. I wasn't too happy to say the least and will be visiting the property later in the season with a coyote gun and one of our Posse members that's a coyote calling guru and get a little payback!

Just an update...Hunted pretty much all day saturday the 18th. Spent a total of 8 hours in the stand. No activity at all in the morning...wind was out of the north at 5 mph and the temp was 50 deg..hunted from before sun up until 10:30...didn't see or hear anything. Hung a feeder during the middle of the day and got back in the stand at 2:00 pm. The temp reached 84 deg and the wind switched from out of the north to out of the SW. Had two deer NE of me blow around 5:00. About 6:30 the wind layed and the air current started carrying my scent south. Had another deer blow from my south about 6:45. That was to be the last activity of the evening. Muzzleloader opens this weekend and the moon finally takes a nap. Hopefully will have some good news by next Wednesday when I return from the lease.
