Saw a huge doe last night at my parents, she was in the back field eating apples with a fawn. They were quite a ways away, at first sight we thought she was a buck. Unfortunately we don't hunt there unless they sneak on to my dads lawn, but of course they do that in the very early hours of the morning.

didn't make it out...just couldn't make myself go. Mosquitos are so bad the thermacell isn't even working. Some friends of mine went and couldn't even make the weekend. They packed up and headed home. Its not fun when they getting in your nose in mouth and plus the deer activity has changed dramatically w/ the mosquito infestation

Back from Churchill. It turns out I couldn't get that Caribou hunt in. I did find a younger polar bear though (apparently its early in the season for those critters yet). Watch for pictures on the boards when I get around to loading them onto the computer. Back to deer hunting this weekend for me.

Well we are offically on the board! I smoked a doe this evening at 734. I got on stand about 5 pm. Nothing moving till about 720 when about nine does came in. I actually drew when they were at 35 yards but let down thinking they would walk through my 21 yard hole. Well go figure that didn't happen and something spooked one of them and they all took off. I really thought the gig was up at that point. After texting mt buddy the bad news and sitting a few more minutes I see a doe coming back in. She stepped in the 35 yard hole and I drew again but she walked through it towards my other hole so I let down. Go figure she stops to eat before she gets there and then I she a nice doe walk in the 35 hole again. Well this time I wasn't letting a 3rd deer get away. Tightened the string and let the easton fmj tipped with a shuttle tee lock fly! The lumenock lit up and I traced it right into her shoulder and it disappeared! She legg kicked and ran about 50 yards before I lost sight of her. I got down and found blood but no arrow. So I marked the spot and then checked for blood where I last saw her and marked that spot. The blood was thin so I backed out and got my buddy. We returned took up the trail and shw wasn't 50 yards from where I last saw her! I had smoked her just like I thought. I'm on my blsckberry right now so picks will be up tomorrow. Hope everyone else had a great opening day!
