Back from my vacation in Missouri and I had a great time. I shot a 7 ptr. the last day I was there and gave the meat to my brother. The big 10prt. I have been hunting the past few years was found dead, I shot it last year and couldn't find him...I didn't realize it was him, super fast hunt and never took a real good look at his rack... makes me sick! I will post a story on the bowhunting forum sometime..

Nice deer there Buckee,, congrats !

Oh well team, we dropped down to fourth place :( not by much though. I still have about 1 month and half of hunting, so hopefully i can upgrade with a decent buck. I will be hunting here in IL Monday morn. The weekend warrior thing really sux, seems the best days to hunt are when i am always at work. They are calling for high winds on Monday:mad:

Good luck to everyone!

Well guys, my rifle season came to an end the day before Thanksgiving by my choice. I sat out Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning and saw zero deer. Add that to the number I've seen early bowhunting and that number remains zero! Kind of hard to shoot a deer when you don't see any. Seems to be the trend for a lot of hunters in my area. Not sure if it was winter kill from last year, wolves, or coyotes. Whatever it is, the deer are not around.

I'm not sure if I'll get out next weekend for a couple days with the muzzle loader or not. Then the weekend after is an antlerless rifle hunt by me. Then late season bowhunting. I'm not too motivated for any of the remaining seasons given what my season has been so far. Sorry.

Congrats to all of you who have scored for the team!! Just sorry I haven't had a chance to contribute.:(

You took the words right out of my mouth. I saw a few deer but nothing I decided was right for me to shoot. I have been hearing lots of complaints from hunters. I sure hope the WDNR does some serious re-thinking this winter.

WTG DoeBlaster :D

Ya, hopefully i can live up to my name before the season is over:o

I agree with you guys up in Wisconsin about not seeing deer this year, its been the same here in IL ,but in my case i know they are there.I hunt in Adams county WI, and I have 16 different bucks on my trail cameras, and at least 10 different does in the past couple months. Where they are in the day time i don't know. There was only 1 small 4 pt. and 3 does taken in my area that i know of gun season ,including my doe. I wasn't up there alot but the time i was i seen very little movement. I don't have problems w/yotes or wolves that i have seen, although the yotes are around. The past 2 years here in IL and up in WI have been really strange with hardly any rutting activity compared with past years. Who really knows , it won't keep me out of the stand though. I will be heading out in the morn. for the last day shotgun season here in IL, there has been a big 15 pt. hanging around the past week w/ a couple of does in the food plot, hopefully i can connect, then Monday i will be out with the bow. Good luck to everyone else.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey team, still hunting here in IL. I have been seeing a ton of deer but just out of reach every time. I moved my stand in a spot that i have been seeing a lot of deer traveling thru so tomorrow morning i will give it a try. I seen a monster 8 point followed by 2 smaller bucks and 5 does on Monday morning and 3 does and a 4 pt. Sun. morn. all traveling this same route. Only have 2 more weeks left so i am trying to get in as much hunting as i can. Congrats Buckee on your season !

Oh well, seen 6 does just out of range and was winded by a spike and later on 2 more does coming down right towards me. There was NW winds this morn. which i didn't expect. I moved my stand once again on the other side of this travel route they are taking . They are calling for NW winds again for Sunday and Monday so it should be perfect.
