For some reason the law says if you buy a Bowhunting license during the season, you have to wait 3 days before you can hunt. I am sure there is some reason for the law, but with most state DNR's, I couldn't come close to telling you why.

On the hunting front, it's been pretty warm here, upper 70's for highs. Just a little to warm to go sit in the tree.

Hey team, looks like i will finally get out in the woods this weekend. I will be heading up north to WI after work tomorrow and will be up in the tree Sun. and Mon. Hopefully those bigguns are still around. I am anxious to also check my trail cam. Its supposed to get down into the 40's at night so it should be good in the mornings. I am not sure if i will take a doe if given the opportunity because of the warm weather, but them tenderloins sound mighty good right now.:D Good luck to everyone else.

Well I got up in the tree last night and had a pretty good night. I found it gets darker in the woods faster with the leaves on the trees. I need to sit my field stands. Now being that we are in a Earn a Buck zone, I need to tag a doe before I get my buck sticker. So can you all guess what the 2 deer were when they came walking by? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out, Yup both were bucks. Niether was a buck that I would have thought about shooting. The first was a nice big bodied 6 pointer, missing his brows. The second came through not more than 3 minutes behind him. A smaller basket 8. He grunted at the first buck, sounded like a 6 year old trying to pick a fight, he had a high pitched grunt. I couldn't see them but I could hear them, and it sounded like they were having a little disagreement about this piece of land.

It's just good to see deer. Saturday is the next night out.

Hey team, had no luck the weekend. Sunday morn. hunted the swamp and heard deer moving thru just before light and seen nothing the rest of the day. Monday morn. hunted the swamp again and once again heard them moving thru just before light. Decided to hunt the edge of a 2 year old clear cut across from the swamp and "I'll be a son of a @*!!" , some scumbag stole my stand:mad:. So i walk down to another that i had about 300 yds. down on the same edge and what else, gone:mad::mad::mad:. Both trees left nothing but the steps that they tried to take but could not get them out. Now i am so pist off i don't even want to hunt but i figured getting up in the stand would calm me down so i scrambled to my food plot stand. (hoping it's still there) Finally got up in the stand and was up there not even 5 min. and a doe and fawn came out. About a half our later 2 more does came out, then another. Then about 10 min. later another doe comes busting out of the corn and chases all of them out of the clover right underneath me and starts fighting on its hind legs with another , and then they all take off in the woods. It turned out to be an OK night after all seeing all that. Now i will have to invest in a couple more stands and locks for all my stands and maybe some cameras for trespasser's. This weekend i will be huntin here in IL , hopefully the winds stay out of the east like they say, I always see a ton of deer with those winds. Good luck everyone.
