Congrats to the both of ya!!!

Well team I thought I would jump in here and give yall a report...

The boys are starting to kick it up here. I've had several close encounters. Theere either to far out or I would need a laser guided arrow to get threw the thick stuff...

Our rifle opener starts this Sat. and I fill like I will have a big brute down by then...

There is one buck I have been seein' a bunch. I named him Spike...

He is a 5 - 5 1/2yr. old 9 point, but his brow tines stand above his rack by 4 or 5 inches. He's about 20" wide, heavy mass and as big as a cow...

I had this buck with in 80 yards of me Monday...

Saw this buck again yesterday in the same area...

I hopein' to get my hands around this stud and soon...

Good Luck to all...

Griz...

Hey folks...........just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. I'm going to try and get back out here in NC the last two weeks of December. I'm hoping to go get that big buck I drew back on earlier in the season and hopefully get a couple of more points for us. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Finally on the board. Got a doe this morning. I will post some pics after I get the christmas lights hung up. She and two yearlings came by my stand around 7:30. I let the two little ones go. One of which was a button buck. She stepped into the opening and the 20 guage barked. I thought I missed. But after replaying the shot in my mind she muled kicked and ran off with her tail down. The other two just stood there. They trotted off but I could still see them so I just sat there and let them move off. It was about 15 minutes later and started to get everything together to climb down. Got down out of the tree and went to the spot she was standing and found hair. Walked around the corner and seen the white belly. Upon field dressing her I shot her right thru the heart. Sorry for the back of the truck pic. I was in a hurry and forgot the camera this morning.

Hey Congrats to everyone...

Well team this is my last day...Last evening for rifle here...

Dad-gum-it...I have been chasin' some big bucks and for some crazy reason things just wouldn't come together...Either bad shot or there in some really thick stuff and theres no shot...

I have came soooo close in taggin' one of these big boys...

But I still have until Jan. 15th. to get it done in...

After today Archery kicks back up...

I have seen tons of deer. Some 1 1/2 yr. old to 3 1/2 yr. old bucks and I let them walk so they will grow...

Well I'm fixin' to head back out again for the final evening of rifle...

On a good note...I am still having the best time in my life even if I didn't score a buck yet...

Griz...

Finally put some high-speed beef in the freezer:D

Friday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2008

Doe dressed 110 lbs and aged 2 1/2 yrs

Shot her with my Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Rem Mag at 40 yards from a ground blind next to a more secluded corner of a picked corn field. She went 50 yards and folded like a cheap tent. Never left the corn field. Talk about fun. Its cold now with about 6"-8" of snow on the ground. This morning my brother had single digits below ZERO on the ole thermometer. Deer should put the feed bag on pretty quick now.

My turn to add points

Added this in the entry link. Little NJ 7 pointer I got first day of firearms. No deer for me yet archery. Rem copper slug, 60 yrds. Had a cold day and trouble shouldering the gun properly. 3rd try positioning the stock got the shot before he got away. Dropped at the shot and disappeard in the brush. High brush had me wondering until I walked up.

  • 2 weeks later...

Leaving this Sunday for the last 4 days of our season here in NC. I'm hoping to bust something bigger for more points. I'm taking a rifle, that'll be alittle different since I haven't hunted with a rifle in years. I will be taking by bow as well for the first couple of days. As the season winds down, you folks be careful out there and hunt safe!
