Dakota
Well, had my first day of classes and couldn't even afford books, then mom called; her and Dad got in a car accident here in Sioux Falls pulling onto 41st street. They were stopped at a red light and the truck behind them accelerated into them! Luckily, the jeep is a tough vehicle and withstood being rearended, but mom's @ the emergency room with a severe case of wiplash and dad's is starting to return as well. He got in a bad care accident in May and totaled the Toyota and got returning wiplash from an injury 8-10 years ago, then the rib injury in August and now this! Just please be in prayer for us! Dakota
I had $7,000 worth of loans out of $22,850 in my financial aid package, but we declined them. Was able to get the books now, but am still bummed about living off campus. I'm going to move in next semester and try to become an RA next year. Thanks for the support, Andrea. nativetexan
Prayers for your family bud. Hope things get better soon. As far as your books go, try Amazon.com. When I was in college, I got a $120 Argumentative Writing text book for about $25. Same book everyone else paid full price for, and it was in good shape. Dakota
Thanks for your prayers, all. They are both physically doing better, but got a bad phone call when they got back home; the mech "fixing" my suburban called and sayed he had "found" all these things that "needed" repairing and figured we would want it all done without consulting us. The price hiked up another $400! Needless to say, Mom went and payed for the $800 from the previous repair and the original $250 from this one and told him he just lost our business! We didn't authorize those repairs and we're not paying the xtra $400 because what he did was unfair and not cool! The sad part is, he goes to our church. Oh, well... Dakota Sorry to hear the news, but glad your parents are getting better. Also sorry to hear about the Suburban. Since it was so special to you, and customized to your liking and specifications, I guess I would have made the same assumption as your mechanic. I'm disappointed that now you feel you do not owe him for the repairs. (Also un-cool) ....popgun

Anyways, it's over and done with and we're not taking our stuff over there anymore. He has had a reputation of doing that, though.
