HuntnMa
OMG, i had to think of this thread the other morning......i 'm in my stand , it's around 6:00 a.m., just got settled in and i heard this scream/roar then a growling noise, it was so loud, i immediately grab the phone and call my sister at home sleeping in, i was scared to death. I just sat there praying for daylight...i've heard bobcats and thats fine, this was more lion like so when i came home i looked up audio for bobcats and cougars/panthers....guess which one it was like ? the panther....I'm talking to folks over the weekend and they've supposely seen one out where i'm hunting ....i don't know if i can believe them or not but i know what i heard wasn't a bobcat....every hair on my body stood up and did this tingly thing..i was really scared..if i had been on the ground when i had heard this , I would of turned around or just hit the ground in a fetal position, lol..... this is similar to what i heard... http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/play/port_lofi.cfm/sound_iid.3842 Later that morning i shot my first racked buck ,grunted him across the pasture, under a fence , to just a few yds. from me... only to lose the blood, so i gave up bowhunting, definately for this year, maybe for good.....I'm tired of not finding my critters..... Guest deerchica
OMG, if there was a chance of a panther anywhere near, I would neve rstep foot in the wood again without an armoured suit. The little sounds of birds in the corn can sound like something huge and it scares me every time. What a wieney I am

Turkeygirl
holy cow!!! I would have had a heart attack! I think I would have screamed louder than I ever have! Oh man, I can't imagine how freaked out you must have been! Don't give up bowhunting...it's hard when you hit a deer and can't recover it. My first year ever hunting, it was shotgun season, shot a beautiful buck but hit him in the leg and didn't recover him. Found the remains about a week later, rack sawed off. I was heart broken because I felt I owed it to the deer to find him, but also because someone else got the antlers. I didn't give up though, it happens to all of us. Do you know where you hit the deer? How long did you give it till you started trailing? The deer may still be ok, but then if you have a cougar/panther around, it may have found the deer and dragged it off, who knows.Hang in there, maybe take a few days off then hit the woods again, it's saddening but don't give it up. Deb
OMG, Huntingma. I'd still be in that tree, too afraid to come down. There is a very real chance that that panther moved your kill. Don't give up!
birdhunter39
I've had a couple of hunting partners that worried me
Buck~Nasty
Since I'm not female I prolly shouldn't post here but I will I'm 22 and when I'm in the woods before day break, And I hear critter's walking, running and making odd sound's. I get worried that maybe BIGFOOT is real! If I'm in a tree stand while hearing this, I'll adjust myself where I can see as far as I can! If I'm sitting at the base of a tree, I'll learn against the tree and hope no monsters come!
Alisha
On the first day of puddle ducks a few weeks back, Justin and I had went to our blind well before daylight. We lugged in decoys, 2 guns, a wooden seat for us to sit on... and a huge backpack. We were none too quiet walking in that morning either. We came back up the same trail as we had used to go to our blind and found big coyote tracks in our footsteps from that same morning! One had followed us in, and I was the one walking in the back!! Also, while up here (in Nova Scotia), I've heard more coyotes that I've ever heard in my life. One pack had to be of at least a dozen or more. It was unreal! Definitely sent chills down my spine! Yikes!
