Moon phase bear activity

Interested to learn if the "full moon" has a significant negative impact on bear activity during daylight hours. I can understand that higher temps would tend to keep bears moving at night moreso than daytime, but does a full moon mean that they are more likely to move at nite?

Planning a bear trip in Ontario for next fall and trying to chose a week. Thanks!

I don't think so, bears are ruled by their stomach. In the fall they must consume every calorie they can find to put on fat to survive the winter hibernation. They spend close to 20 hours a day in the fall on that quest.

It's always amazed me the similarities between bears and racoons. That being said, I'm of the opinion that a bears eyesight is limited and the extra light from a full moon would have a greater influence on their behavor than the change in gravitational pull caused by the full moon. Activity increases in all animals during a full moon especially on clear nights.
