Doc
Ok, what's up with the 399 Weatherby........399 being the cost. It is available in most of the popular calibers. To me that seems like an awful low price for a make of gun that has always been known as a higher end gun. Where are they cutting corners? How have they gotten the price so low? Are there quality shortcomings? Is somebody else manufacturing this gun for them (maybe made in Haiti or some such place....lol)? What's the story? snapper
Its not a "Weatherby" per say...its a Weatherby Vanguard made by Howa. I believe all the Vanguards are made by Howa...thats why they are cheaper. Not that they are not good guns...just a cheaper line.
JJL
Greg hit it on the head, they're made by Howa. Still, an excellent functioning rifle. Cheaper plastic stock, and not quite the fit and metal finish that you would expect from Weatherby. That being said, they will still shoot 1" moa and the savings will give you an extra $150-$250 to put towards glass. They're a great shooter if you can get past the plastic.
