Adjam5
I was out on my deck at my hunting cabin over the weekend and I saw this critter under one of my apple trees. Pop! The .22mag at 60yards. The Remington 32grV-Max performed flawlessly. No exit, maximum energy transfer. Upon inspection of this chuck, I see it has gotten lucky once before. It had what was left of a snare trap cable around it, that it must've chewed through and freed itself on someone else's trap set. The cable was causing a infection as you can see. It was a fat one too. Coyote bait for trapping season...in the freezer it goes. I guess it ran out of luck:D

Adjam5
Thanks guys. Our land in NY's Catskills is virtually untouched until the weekend when we get to go up hunt/shoot/ride. I have many apple trees around the land and I guess thats how that chuck got so fat with no one bothering it. There are other fat/old ones out there I've seen, just not at the right time with the .22mag. The .22mag sits by the kitchen window up there...just in case:p

Adjam5
Is snaring legal in New York ?? I`m not familar with your laws ?? Snare traps are ILLEGAL in NYS. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9209.html Soooo...who ever set that snare trap did so illegally. Wood chucks do not have a great range...so the list of suspects is pretty small:rolleyes:. There are not that many people living around our hunting camp. BUT I do know the damage they do can drive people to the edge of criminality. We shoot them back here with the bow where we live in suburbia( my son has 5 this year with the bow:D) and with the gun upstate at our hunting camp. I do not eat them. They are coyote bait.
