Jorden
As it gets closer to season, do you guys start practicing using your broadheads or just stick with your field tips or doesnt it make a difference one way or the other? Gator
I have 3 heads that are practice heads, I will shoot my arrows to see which ones group the best with those heads to set aside my hunting arrows. Then I will just stick to my field points on arrows that say don't fly as well with BH's.
GWSmith
The Broadheads that go in my hunting quiver have only been shot twice just to ensure they fly correctly. If they are shot on occassion into the ground/field:o they either get replacement blades or become part of the practice blade crew. I personally have a tradition of retiring any arrow/broadhead combo that scores on game;)
RangerClay
The practice heads that came with my Rage 2-blades fly just like field tips. Unfortunately they really tear up my Delta deer target. So I just use the field tips.
Hoyt03
absolutely check where your broadheads are hitting at all different yards. I usually use one or two and keep shooting those on occasion. If I know they are flying where I want them then I mostly stick to the field points and maybe a fixed head here or there. I feel bad for the guys who can't tune their bow and change their sights around for their broadheads then are stuck shooting them. It's a must for me to have same point of impact for my field tips and BH's

Squirrelhunter91
Been shooting broad heads the last two weeks! Same for me!!
JDAWG
I have one arrow set up and shoot with a broadhead to make sure the impact point is the same. I practice with only this one, then use the rest in my quiver. My BH flight and my field tip flight are the same.
Tony
it is an absolute must that you shoot your broadheads before the season and sight your bow in with them. this is also why i shoot Muzzy broadheads. i spin tune and match a specific broadhead to an arrow and then that broadhead and arrow combo stay together for the season. its so easy for me to change out blades to old ones and then practice like crazy with them. when im ready to go hunting, i just put the new blades back in and im good to go. i try to get exact point of impact with field tips and bradheads, but its not really important to me, because i can practice all season long with my hunting arrows and broadheads, by just going back to dull blades. maytom
I own two targets. One is for shooting broadheads at, (the Black Hole), and the other is strictly for target/field tipped arrows only. (Morrel eternity field model). I shoot the Rage three blade broadhead and it flys exactly like my target arrows. It's a must to verify how your arrows fly tipped with the broadhead of your choice, and at the extreme range that you may be shooting. I can't tell you the amount of broadheads I tried over the years that don't fly worth a plum nickle.......accuracy wise!!! My cousin has been using the Rage three blade for the last few years now, and the actual damage done to the animal is just amazing!!! I finally bought some and tested them out of my bow. I was hooked at their accuracy at all distances!!!
ny_gun
I do the exact same thing. I always practice with my Muzzy broadheads and just switch the blades out before opening day. it is an absolute must that you shoot your broadheads before the season and sight your bow in with them. this is also why i shoot Muzzy broadheads. i spin tune and match a specific broadhead to an arrow and then that broadhead and arrow combo stay together for the season. its so easy for me to change out blades to old ones and then practice like crazy with them. when im ready to go hunting, i just put the new blades back in and im good to go. i try to get exact point of impact with field tips and bradheads, but its not really important to me, because i can practice all season long with my hunting arrows and broadheads, by just going back to dull blades.
