coles
well guys. as some of you know i posted about havin a pic of a grizzly on a trail camera only 10 yards from my tree stand...well saturday morning(opening morning) there was deer all over. no bucks big enough to shoot though. So sunday morning and afternoon we didnt see one deer back there nor did i see any yesterday. I figured there had to be a bear or a cat back there for there to be no deer cuz there is always deer back there. So i was sittin in my stand yesterday evening and saw something move off to my left about 100 yards. It was a sow grizzly with a cub. this was all about 30 mins before it was dark out and rather than take a chance and walk back to my truck i called my dad on my cell phone to come get me. I had my pistol with me but didnt feel like putting myself in that situation since she was between me and my truck. He drove right up to my stand and i climbed down and got in. I checked my trail camera earlier that afternoon and had 6 new pics on it so maybe i got a pic of her. ill be sure to post them when i find out. JDAWG
That would have scared the crap out of me. This one time, at band camp......Just kidding. I was hunting up in maine a couple of years ago and as I walked through a cedar patch I walked right up to a big black bear. That scared the heck out of me, I can imagine seeing a grizzly. Sounds like you are going to have an interesting season. Stay Safe.

coles
yeah word has been spreading around town about the incident since my stand is not even a mile out of the city limits. i can hear the church bells ring from my stand and the lil kids on the play ground at school. i havent been back out there huntin. im not scared of the bears just dont see any point in goin out there if there is not deer right now. you just gotta be aware of what is goin on and you should be safe with the bears. i know the key word there is "should" but thats why im givin it a couple more days. lol
RangerClay
I just checked with an expert and he said it was ok to walk past the sow and cub.
